This was Pete Carol's reasoning for going for it:

He says they were trying to "waste time" but that makes no sense AT ALL ... if you are trying to waste time, then you run the ball.

Basically the ball is either caught in the endzone (no wasted time) or incomplete (again, no wasted time) ... or I guess intercepted lol

Carol was trying to out smart everyone, and he got played the fool doing so. And he is trying to run from his decision with this lame a** excuse. What a chump

And honestly, they had a shot to still win it there at the end. Pats couldn't really take a knee in the end zone ... everyone in the world knew that they would try to draw the Seahawks offsides ... except for the Seahawks apparently lol.

Force the Pats to a safety, then just need a FG to win it

I agree. You don't throw a quick slant into the box from the one. Too risky because it's too crowded. If you insist on throwing then throw to the outside where only your guy has a chance. But when you have 2nd and 1 with 2 timeouts with 30 secs and lynch in the backfield you should run.

Again, it's not the fact that they didn't give it to Lynch so much that bothers me.

If you don't give it to Lynch, you have to PA bootleg or read option. Wilson is the best QB at doing this. Why would that not be the call? It's a safe play. Worst case scenario, incomplete pass, 3rd down, 14 seconds left, 1 timeout. Then you can give it to Lynch. If he doesn't score, you call timeout with 2 seconds left and do whatever the hell you wanna do on 4th down.

Cover 0... So if the WRs are running routes there's a really good chance RW can run it in for the score. If not, he throws it away.

This is just such basic stuff, and I'm not even an X's and O's guy.

Yea, it made no sense... and with 20 something seconds left, beggars can't be choosers. Score if you can score, and let your special teams and #1 defense do their job. I mean, realistically the worst case scenario for the Seahawks was scoring on that play with 21 seconds left (or whatever), going up 31-28, the Pats getting the ball and having maybe (MAYBE) enough time to get into field goal range to send it into OT.

The chances of the Pats scoring a TD would've been Music City Miracle type stuff.

We need to give Butler some credit here because he made a great play.

He read the play and broke on the ball in seconds beating the WR to that spot.....hats off to him!

For sure, DB saw a play develop and jumped in front of it, cant be mad with that.

I was rooting for Seattle but I was mostly just hoping for a great Super Bowl, we got exactly that.
