Agree to a point, but I think that they were down to one timeout. Therefore, with 30 seconds left and one timeout you get two plays if the clock keeps running on the play after you call the TO (or at a minimum you will be extremely rushed for the third play). If you call Lynch's number on the second play (assuming he does not get in on the first play), that could have been the final play of the game (win, lose, or draw).

IMO the only way they get three plays (if needed) is to put the ball in RW's hands on the second play. If nothing is there he can throw the ball into the stands and live to fight for one more play (which could have been the Lynch dive again for all practical purposes).

 

No ones saying he's a pro bowler. But it's the fact we got rid of a player for literally nothing who Belicheck spoke highly of, who actually did contribute well to the NE specials teams, and has been a good rotational and versatile player there.

But it's cool, 2 30 year old OLBs in Kamerion Wimbley and Quentin Groves, who likely won't even be on the team next year sure were obviously better.

This could be the dumbest call in the sb over the last 20 yrs. Pete carroll and rw should smack the chit out of themselves for that call.

You have lynch and a timeout, call the run, then call time or call two runs and hurry back, run again then call time. No way lynch doesn't get one yard in two or three tries. Even if he gets stuffed its a better call then letting Russell freakin wilson throw that close.

 

That's what happens when you try to be cute with the game on the line.

That is essentially like saying "Well, we could give the ball to Michael Jordan for the last play of the game. But they will be expecting that, better give it to Luc Longley."

 

Yeah...agree with that. I am dating myself here, but it reminded me a bit of the final scene in the movie "Hoosiers", when Gene Hackman wanted to use his best player as a decoy, and the whole team just groaned, causing him to go to the best player. Very similar except the Seattle coaches did not get the message that they were trying to overthink the situation LOL.

You cannot tell me that BeastMode was gonna be denied. Did you see the way he was fighting down near the goal line that night? He was going to score, and everyone knew it.

 

Exactly, not even a question. If you can't run the ball in, then you deserve to lose at that point. I'll be damned if I would have went out being cute at the goal line like they did. I would pound the hell out of that rock and make a statement. That is exactly why you have Lynch...hence "Beast Mode"....HORRIFYING play call!
