And then there is Sean Payton who was held responsible without "knowledge of wrongdoing" for somebody on his staff. Let's watch has this "precedent" is also dismissed after that "renegade ball-boy" takes the fall.

How anybody justifies Goodell/NFL to not harshly punish the Patriots (who are repeat offenders) is beyond me.

Since they violated the rules in some fashion (and Brady was clearly lying), they should be punished. But I don't think it should be a harsh punishment because...

Again, this is an NFL problem IMO. They can't honestly allow teams to supply their own footballs without tampering with them in some way time to time. I am absolutely sure EVERY team has done something along these lines at some point. That doesn't necessarily make it right, but if anything needs to change it's the way footballs are supplied in games. Teams should no longer be allowed to submit their own footballs. I don't have a perfect solution to it, but having teams supply their balls is just asking for trouble IMO.

And once again, is there hard evidence here that would suggest they altered the balls after inspection? As I've suggested, it's very possible they submitted them for inspection at minimum inflation. Then with time, the balls naturally deflated. Not saying this is what happened, but it's possible. And it's likely the Pats have done this sort of thing for a long time now.

There's still reasonable doubt involved, and the Pats will only face minimal penalties/fines.

I could see a one year suspension for Belichick since he's a repeat offender, and if Payton can get a year for something he "may not have known about," so can Belichick. But outside of that, I don't see a very harsh penalty coming.

A one year suspension for a coach is pretty harsh in my book.

Man that attendant is lazy as f#$%! Got to the last ball and said the hell with it and left it inflated to regulation.

I don't see them going that route. Just saying that's probably as harsh a punishment we could possibly see.

I expect it to just be a fine ($1mil max) and/or loss of 1st round pick.

Pretty sad when espn says this is their watergate. I mean, really? This is news?

Kronkite couldn't even pronounce vince lombardi's name when he died, but this is the leading news on tv...

    Wtf happened?

Pats cheat, but balls could have naturally deflated since it was so cold, colts lost fair and square though, deflated balls or not. The pats would have stomped them, regardless. So who gives a ****?

Well, I now feel genuinely bad for this employee because we all know he was ordered to do that.

Now he gets to be thrown under the bus and blamed for everything... what a shame.

This poor kid is going to be flagged from the league and never get another NFL job now... they better at least pay him off or something.
