    This is my assumption.

They submit the balls at minimum inflation, knowing they will naturally deflate over the course of the game.

Either way, this is an NFL issue IMO. Not a Pats/Brady/Belichick issue.

If the NFL is that upset about it, they should change the way footballs are supplied to teams.

This seems dumb... as in, NFL "allowed" this to happen. Not defending the Pats, but the League has been too lenient on enforcing what it wants.

Balls must be a certain pressure... but we'll only check it once... waaay before the game. Also, you can have them back for... "use".

All possible, although I would guess that with all of the cameras hovering around it would be hard to do this without being noticed.

Totally agree...I am guessing that the silence from the NFL is more due to the struggle to find a way to spin "we really did not do a good job with defining this rule, and have not paid much attention to its enforcement because we didn't think it was that big of a deal". This is more of a PR black eye for the NFL than anything else IMO....they got caught being gamed and out-thought by Belicheat here. That is the sense I am getting anyway.

Your post needs to be quoted a few more times and remembered by everyone on the internet. Pats are good here, a none issue for them, NFL now has to clean up their own mess they created.

I really wish Goodell would just come out and say "this is stupid we're not going to do anything". Soft ball, hard ball who the hell cares! Theres dozens of other factors in playing football, the Colts know this and is why even their own players aren't mad they lost. If they are mad theyre mad they sucked and played like crap. They benefited too with the deflated balls, they may have not intercepted a harder ball, so they're no one to talk.

Also, does the rule state just the initial inflation of the ball at gametime has to be at 12.5 psi? Is there anything in the rule that says it must maintain at least 12.5 psi throughout the game?

I would also like to see how handling the football throughout a game effects the pressure.

Interesting ... so D'Qwell Jackson (who intercepted Brady) had no idea that the ball was deflated, and he did not tip off the refs (like I thought had happened).

Patriots were using the Colts balls late into the 1st half, meaning they did not even play half a game with the deflated balls ... so whatever small advantage they got is even smaller

Idc how serious this is in terms of how the game was affected or not.

Its plain in simple that they cheated, period. My problem is with Brady and Belichick. They could of came out took the fall real quick and this would of been over.

The fact they keep denying amd denying is making it a bigger issue because 1 of them had to know about it and i believe that was Tom Brady.
