Pats may have inflated to the minimum possible and then the weather took it under?

    Not by two pounds.

Had the Colts inflated theirs to the maximum, 13.5 pounds, and the weather deflated the balls at the same rate it would have been one pound under regulation, correct?

The minimum is 12.5 pounds and the Pats' balls were two pounds less than that, weighing in around 10.5. If Indy's were 13.5 and the weather deflated them at the same rate theirs would have been 11.5 pounds, also illegal.

Patriots are cheaters. They should lose their entire draft for being caught multiple times. "Repeat offenders," as Czar Rodger likes to say.

Are you saying suspended before or after the super bowl? I could see them suspending him after the super bowl (i.e next year like they did sean payton). but they will need more proof that the patriots actually did it. if they find that smoking gun then I could easily see a suspension next year of at least 6 games if not the season for being a repeat offender.

What's a suspension going to accomplish? They'd have to definitely dock them a 1st round pick to actually make it hurt them at all.

The indefinitely part could make it sting.. but nobody gets kicked out permanently, if Gregg Williams won't.. One of the winningest coaches in history definitely won't.

I think there are several key questions here that would need to be addressed before handing out any punishment ...

    1) What was the initial inflation of the balls (was it on the low end?)

2)Were the Colt's balls also checked? What were the beginning and ending pressure of their balls?

    3) How much does game play typically deflate a ball? ... If the Pats ran a lot more plays than the Colts, would their balls have experienced more pressure loss? (not sure of the actual play count, just speculation based on the score)

    4) Could there be something about the Patriots balls specifically that might have caused them to lose pressure? For instance, could all the Pats game balls came from the same batch from the supplier? Could that batch have some issue/defect that would have only affected those particular balls? (just one scenario, could be others that might affect that particular set of balls)

    5) were the Colts and Pats balls checked with the same Gauge? When was the last time the gauge was certified/calibrated? Was the same gauge used to take both measurements?

    6) Supposedly the Colts noticed the under inflation on an int, but the refs handle the balls after every single play ... why did they not notice it before the colts complained?

However, if they do ultimately rule that Belicheck cheated, then I think they have to punish him pretty harshly.

He is a repeat offender, and there really is no place for cheating in this game. If you don't punish him harshly, then what is the incentive for him or any other coach not to cheat?

If I knew I could cheat my way into a SB, then only have a slap on the wrist punishment, you better believe I would be cheating again the next year.

Plus, the NFL took some heat for destroying the spy gate evidence and trying to sweep it under the rug, and with the scrutiny that Goodell has been under lately, I think he has not choice but to hand out a swift and harsh punishment.

I say let Belicheat coach in the SB. The Pats will win, then you suspend Belicheat 'indefinitely'. With another ring and Belicheck out for the foreseeable future, Brady might as well just go ahead and retire.

Then maybe we can get Brady and Manning out of the NFL all in one offseason lol
