Those who say that this doesn't matter because of the score are totally missing the point. Cheating is cheating no matter what the out come. If you get caught you need to be punished.

With the Pats their seems to be an institutional problem/acceptance that breaking the rules is ok. If the report is true that they cheated then major sanctions should be handed down.

What do you all think is appropriate for sanctions?

At a minimum, I think that Belicheat should be suspended indefinitely from all team activities immediately. This would hurt the teams chances of winning the SB.

I actually like that the Deflatriots try to gain every advantage they can. They know even if they get caught the penalty won't be very harsh.

The bigger question here is, what if the game was actually close? What if they kicked a field goal at the end of regulation to win the game? This would be a totally different discussion because you may be talking about the difference in a win and loss.

Just saw that the colts actually informed the league of potential deflation after they played them in the regular season this year. This irks the question.. did they do this all season long? If so.. something is definitely going to happen penalty-wise.

"However, a published report Wednesday says the Colts’ suspicions about the inflation of New England’s footballs date back at least to the regular season matchup with New England on November 16.

And again, an interception — two of them, actually — was the catalyst.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Colts notified the NFL about potential under-inflation after safety Mike Adams picked off Brady twice in New England’s 42-20 victory.

In both cases, ESPN reported, Adams took the ball to the sideline as a memento, then gave it to the team’s equipment staff."

The NFL clearly favors offenses, why is this a big deal? Let teams alter their footballs as they see fit.

Why does it matter if the score was close or not?

The action of cheating is the same no matter what the final outcome of the action turns out to be. Just because they blew them out doesn't lessen the fact that they cheated. It just shows that they probably didn't need to cheat in the 1st place.
