Take it for what it's worth, but Bill Simmons is pretty well respected and intelligent IMO, so thought it was worth posting

Prediction: Denver hires Kubiak and cuts Manning, who goes home + signs w/ Tenn for 1 more season (and gets piece of team when he retires).

PS: Peyton Manning's wife owns 5 percent of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Simmons is one of the better sports guys around.

why he would want to come here now when he didn't after the colts?

we have gotten worse.. i don't see why he'd want to other than to coast through the rest of his career, playing 6 games a season making tens of millions

Because he's now closer to retirement, and it'd be a 1 year thing before moving into a front office/ownership type role.

Honestly, I'd take him for a year, even if it isn't great -- as long as it meant he's in our front office after. It'd do many great things for the franchise.

for 1 year the OL would be pretty real good at pass protection ...

Why would the hiring of kubiak mean manning would be out in denver?

I don't think Simmons meant it like that. I'm guessing it would be Elway's decision, and Kubiak would be well informed of that.. Manning's 19 mil cap hit? Elway thinking its time to rebuild? Reach, but Manning not a great fit for Kubiak's O? all those roll outs..

I could see Manning packing it in and buying a piece of The Titans before actually playing for The Titans, which would be a terrible retirement-from-playing plan.

Dear Bill Simmons. STFU trying to nail a longshot prediction. Why would Manning go to a team with zero chance of winning. A team with an O line that would get him killed in the first game.

Sure, Manning likely doesn't want to play for a below average team in his twilight years...but you can bet that if he does come to Tennessee, that line will get serious attention and fast via FA and the draft. I just don't get the negativity behind it if he did. This team is terrible people, they could use all of the talent, leadership, attention, and guidance that they can get. I'm behind it, it's a win win IMO.
