Oh yea for sure, but really theres only 5 places you can go with a run, how you get there can be all different ways tho.

Yea but there's a big difference between running a Wham in the A gap effectively and running Power O in the C gap ineffectively because CJ2Lame wants to cut it back or outside of his blocks...

One things for certain... I've hardly seen the titans be creative with their run plays.

I'd disagree that THIS is what separates the good from the bad. A lot of teams run the same play several times a game...especially if you don't stop it. If they can force the D to change their formation...say bring an 8th defender into the box, now you take advantage of the defenses adjustment.

While it is a great play by McCourty, it is a bad play by Flacco not reading the FS. McCourty broke very early to get all the way over there which meant no deep help for others. Flacco made the same mistake the last play of the game when he got baited into that last INT. He saw a favorable matchup for Smith and a lesser S closest and figured the S would stay neutral. He didn't.

There are some plays you only run once a game but the best plays are ones you can run successfully the first time and possibly a few times to let the D adjust and then hit them with a complimentary play. Take a WR bubble screen where the other WR's or TE are blocking. After the D gets used to flying up even before the ball is thrown, you can usually get a nice big play down the sideline when you fake the screen and the outside blocker fakes a block and goes down the sideline.

But manning threw back to back go routes to Sanders vs the Colts. they didn't complete either but he was open both times...

So it really depends on the team. But you certainly can't assume the D won't be aware of the play the next time around or won't make adjustments.
