Is Mettenberger "our guy?"

I still like Mariota a lot and think he will be a solid pro, but last night proved that it will not be in Tennessee. I really hope Tampa takes Mariota because no team is going to believe we will take Mariota. It showed again that his biggest weakness is down field accuracy. That's the biggest strength needed to be a Whiz qb. He is the exact opposite type of QB we need.

 

26 of 36 for 338 yards, 72% completion, 2 touchdowns, 39 yards rushing, QB rating of 163.9. The only thing he didn't do was win.

 

He'll be a bust.

 

Manziel will bust, but Mariota, I think he could be alright as a pro. Different kinds of guys.

 

I'm not comparing him to Manziel.

Manziel already busted. Mariota won't be as bad as Manziel (no QB is that bad), but I don't expect much of him unless he ends up in Philly.

 

I don't think Manziel will be a good pro at all, but to say he already busted is ridiculous. He played 1.5 games. That's hardly enough to see what can do.

 

Spread QB's always have great numbers. They rarely work in the NFL. He doesn't make enough NFL type throws: throwing to a spot before a guy is open.

 

I wasn't arguing whether or not he was going to be a good NFL QB. Just countering to your argument that he wasn't impressive. I think those numbers in a championship game are every impressive, regardless of his status as a prospect.

 

Mariota is the epitome of a project with high ceiling that tends to get over drafted. The guy doesn't fire me up at all. He just looks like an overly emotional cryer.

Not a bad sport cryer, but like Tim Tebow.

 

and that is AFTER losing Benjamin and Freeman.

Yes, it is a concern about wither he can play without great talent.
