Why do you guys want Worilds? He had 8 sacks 2 years agao and 7.5 sacks last year. Jerry Hughes is a better pass rusher. He has had 10 sacks each of the last 2 seasons and probably could be had for $47-50mil and $25mil guaranteed if we don't want to spend the big bucks on Houston. While Hughes had an excellent cast around him, he also got a lot of production as a situational player.

Though LeBeua showing Whiz how he's messing up might be worth a consulting fee!!!

I think people want Worilds because he won't be as costly as the other pass rushers. As mediocre as he is, he would sadly be the best pass rusher on the team.

Wouldn't mind if we got him, then got another OLB in the draft within the first 2 rounds.

Hughes was nothing with colts, he would be nothing here being the premier pass rusher. Hes the bills 4th best lineman.

That's why he better not be our best pass rusher! He could be successful if we got Williams or Suh on the DL and drafted a good pass rusher to pair with him.

He's nothing more than a situational pass rusher, and I'm not throwing 47+ mil to him to do that. I wouldn't even offer him Wimbley money.

I would like to sign him and Orakpo. That would be great. Draft Leonard Williams and roll with Sammie Hill and a 2/3 rd NT. Hughes would get decent money along with Orakpo because he had such a down year. That's a very upgraded front 7.

I see it as any easy formula for us. We need 4 players atleast in our front 7. 2 OLB, NT, DE. (MLB is a much lesser need and could roll with Woodyard who was much better with help in front of him in Denver) If we can sign any two that sets us up well in the draft. If we can sign 3, that lets us maybe go Copper which I would like. Instead of going Houston, I would prefer Dan Williams + two b list olb.

I agree, we must fix this awful front 7. I'd love 2 OLBs, NT, & DE.. but still think ILB is a need.

Signing b-list free agents to big money contracts is almost the worst bang for your buck, is the wrong thing to get you into the playoffs and starts the cap purgatory clock...even when we stink! I throw hughes out there only because I'm afraid Webster will do what he's done before...not go after the major impact players and keep getting 3-6mil/yr fill-ins who are nice, but can't get you anywhere.

NT is NOT a need. Sure we could talk about upgrading every position as we don't have the best player at any position, but you need to fix HOLES first and that means pass rush in general and OLB pass rush in specific. Hughes is not my first, second, third or fourth preference but I think more realistic for Webster and FORCES us to get another good pass rusher at OLB (and possibly DL with LW) in the draft. A better pass rush also helps the D get off the field. That alone helps your run D.

Upgrading Woodyard vs upgrading SLH vs upgrading the CB position opposite McCourty are all considerations but you'd get the most bang for your buck at LB or CB in the draft in rnds 2 or 3 assuming we take LW in round 1. There is no great NT outside of Shelton worth one of those picks IMO. Jordan Phillips has talent but is a serious medical red flag.

We would get more bang for our bucks by signing 2-3 star players than getting small upgrades at several positions that may or may not be upgrades. Houston and Dez Bryant are HUGE upgrades as they give us players who are on par with the best in the league. They are difference makers! Fill the other holes with super star draft choices and we can go a long way to rebuilding this roster!

How far did Pitty, Pollard, McCluster, Levitre, Oher, CW, Phillips, Woodyard, SLH, Woods get us last season? That's 10 free agents...none of whom are difference makers and they all make 3-6mil+. Would you rather have them or 4 Super Star players with the other spots filled with draft picks?

Well, first, my mistake. I meant to say Hughes and Orakpo wouldn't get big money. I also think we need to stop thinking we are going to go after Houston, Dez and Thomas. If they don't get franchised tag, why would they come here? We wont give them such big contracts they cant say no. We have to many holes. If we offer, they will be on par with other teams. They wont come here. So, we should target next in line. Just because we want them, doesn't mean we should waste our time on them. Its a two way street. We need to add multiple pieces again. No just 2 players. Also, Orkapo, Dan Williams, McCourty, Bulaga, Iupatit, and others mentioned on here are "bigger" names than Pollard, Pitty, McCLuster, CW, and SLH were.

And again please! people stop using "super star" draft choices, "impact" draft player or "stud" (I hate that one the most) player. We know nothing of the player until they play.

This seems to need repeating. Of course if a guy goes to and wins the Super Bowl and his teams wants to give him max dollars, he'll never leave. But with the cap, you can't keep everyone and you can't even tag them if you don't have the room (cheaper to sign them long term for a lower cap #). So the team either makes the room or the player leaves. The other problem can be if the player and team don't see eye to eye on the VALUE of the player. The player leaves.

So now we have a free agent. A free agent coming off his rookie contract (not a ton of money), like Justin Houston, typically look at the big money first and location 2nd. Of course if NE or Seattle offered him the same deal we did, he wouldn't come here. No one would. But those teams almost never offer top dollar contract because 1, they can't afford it and 2, they can already get to the SB without that player. In effect, they expect a hometown/winning discount and sometimes they get it. but more often than not, those players willing to play for a discount are already past their first big money contract. In effect, they already got 'paid.'

The good thing for us is, the players we SHOULD be targeting are guys who are 25-27yrs old and coming off their rookie contracts as they will think long and hard about bigger money vs winning situation. IF Dallas didn't lock up Dez and the Pats offered him $7mil and we offered him $15 with a plan to rebuild the team in a year or 2, i'd say we have more than a competitive offer. Doesn't guarantee he'll take as we don't know him. Maybe he'd see winning and playing with a HOF QB worth losing the $8mil a year...but when you put it in terms of a $49mil contract from the Pats versus a $105mil offer from the Titans, our offer looks almost unstoppable. Now he looks and thinks, is it worth $50mil less to play with Brady? Plus, a lot of players equate where there contract ranks to how important they are. Having the top contract in the market means a lot to most of the players. Look at Darrell Revis. He left a much better situation with the Jets (at the time) to take bigger money with the lowly Bucs. Didn't he want to go to play with Brady or Manning? No, money was the bigger factor and for him, still is as NE is paying him a pretty penny this year.

Great players will go to bad teams if you pay them. Did Mario Williams go to the best team? No, he took the biggest contract. Not every player will, but it's worth trying or we will be a sub-avg team for as long as the Titans use this philosophy.

It's like the old saying...the lottery is for people who are bad at Math.

I fear Orakpo will be the next Wembley after his injuries. And I wouldn't sign Orakpo and Hughes as I think Hughes will be overpaid based on his 10 sacks which in part are because of the pieces around him. Might point is, go after the big guys first (though we'll no more after ppl are tagged and others re-signed). Dan Williams doesn't seem like such an impact player we need to spend big money on and we still owe SLH and Woods and Pitty.

I think if McCourty and Bulaga hit the market, they are willing to go to a worse situation for the money or they would sign cheaper contracts to stay with those teams. And btw, it becomes cost prohibitve to tag someone 2 years in a row 99% of the time.

So again, we may not get the chance to get all or some of these players, but why would you not want to IF you could? They would be major pieces on the team.
