    Damn. All horrible.

    Russell was a dumb pick.

    Ponder bust

    Flynn 7th rounder, career backup.

You can't accurately predict how well a QB will perform in the NFL based on who his college coach was. See Peyton Manning, Tee Martin, and Heath Shuler.

This is exactly why no matter what Whiz says, I believe they will eventually fall in love with one of the top QB's......If for nothing else, job security and desperation....

I think what you are saying is a valid concern, but realistically there are new GMs/HCs coming in to new teams. Several of those teams are desperate at QB. With so many teams needing QB there will be a trade market. Not so much because they are afraid we will take one; more because they want to be the team with the option of taking their guy at QB. For them to be in position to take one of the best they have to trade with us. Tampa is one of the desperate teams. They are not trading away a chance to get their guy. That leaves us. Teams know we may not take QB, they will be talking to us in hopes/with dreams of finding their franchise QB. There are really only 2 real QB prospects this year that have a legitimate chance of starting this year. Mariota & Winston. If they want the other guy they have to trade with us or someone else will do so. It's not always about trying to get there to keep us from picking the guy, it's more about getting there before another team does.

I think you understand what I'm saying.

The Jets won't trade with us because they understand we are aren't likely to take a QB and the Jags, Raiders and most likely Redskins are OK with their QB situation.

The Bears are likely to trade to jump the Jets but they too understand we are not QB needy so if they want to "jump" the Jets they'll wait to see if we pass on QB and trade with Redskins or Raiders to minimize the trade differential.

The most likely scenario to parlay the #2 spot into multiple slightly lower picks is to go ahead and draft the remaining QB and work a deal like the Chargers and Giants did with Eli Manning.

And IMO, their really isn't game-changing talent worthy of a top five pick in this draft. Amari Cooper is right at the cusp of a #5 overall talent- other than him- I haven't seen much.

The same could have been said about Peyton Manning in his rookie year. Rookies always struggle, it's part of the learning process. Mett is not Manning, I know that, but he may be able to develop with time. He most likely will never be Manning, but the fact remains; if you are going to take a risk at QB why not take the one you already have with a 6th round pick rather than the risk you have to pay for with the 2nd overall pick. If he was more of a franchise type QB then sure do it. However, no one is sure that either of the two top QBs this year will pan out. Most analysts are saying they feel sorry for anyone picking high this year. I am not saying there is no chance Winston turns out good, He may do so. However, this year it is a very big gamble.

Yea I get it. I just HOPE you are wrong. LOL. Our best chance for a quick turn around is a trade back & great FA. The best scenario is the Jets get scared some one is going to trade with one of the other teams for the 2nd QB. If that happens the Jets could turn to us. So there is still logic to the #2 pick being traded.

There is a lot of defensive talent to be had in FA this year. Probably one of the best defensive FA in quite some time. A lot of the guys will not get away, but there will be plenty of talent there to fix some of our many issues on defense. The biggest question will be if Webster can get any of the good ones.

Other question is do the Jets or the Bears want Winston any more than we do? I doubt it. And with not many picks (if any) draft prospects at thus point undeniably top five, I'm nearly 100% confident we'll be picking #2 unless we have some combine or senior bowl breakout hype.

We have no face of the franchise, until we do we will be irrelevant.

I'm warming up to Winston, but I believe that's the route Tampa goes.
