Which free agents should the Titans try to obtain?

All of em.

 

It is my preference to trade our #2 pick this year for more picks but if forced to choose I would go with Leonard Williams for DE. In FA I would go after NT Terrance Knighton from Denver and DE JPP if he is capable of transitioning to an OLB (probably would need to drop 10-20 lbs) and OLB/DE Pernell McPhee from Baltimore. In the second I would try and trade back a few picks and get MLB Benardrick McKinney. He would probably be used as a 2 down thumper unless he can address his pass coverage lapses but has the speed and strength. My only concern with him though sometimes he tries to play to finesse for such a big and fast player. We still have Zach Brown for nickle packages and if he could resume his previous play and be an every down lb for us then all the better.

This would give us a pretty potentially awsome D with Williams, Knighton, and Casey up front. McPhee and JPP as OLB while McKinnie or Brown and Williamson as ILB. This would definitely shore up our run defense and give us a much needed pass rush. In nickle Casey would move over to NT and McPhee would move to DE/DT and OLBs would be McKinnie and JPP with ILBs of Williamson and Brown.

In the secondary I would sign Antonio Cromartie to pair with McCourty and attempt to sign Devin McCourty. The issue comes what to do with Griffin. I know many would like to cut him but I wonder could he make the transition back to SS. I know it was a failed attempt before but with lack of pass rush and FS help Griffin was put in bad situations trying to cover his man but make up for the FS failing to cover his man, which put him in no man's land. I wouldn't mind seeing Griffin try it again as he is a pretty big hitter most times he isn't missing the tackle and it would give us better pass coverage than Pollard.

In the third round I would draft Tre Jackson OG from FSU and release Levitre. I would also sign Jahri Evans RG or Ben Grubbs LG (OGs from NO Saints) if they are salary cap casualties, which is a pretty good chance. Had down years although Evans is going to the pro bowl again and Grubbs has been a pro bowl G as well. Either would make a good stop gap G giving Tre Jackson time to develop unless he beats them out or play for Warmack if he plays like he was playing for most of the season. Afterwards hope that Roos dedicates himself and reconsiders retirement and see what he has left and throw him at RT.

I would keep Oher, although many would like to see him cut. We really don't gain much in cutting him and he has experience at R and L tackle so he could play either, albeit probably not very well. Would also try playing him at G as well. In the fourth draft Nate Orchard or Hau'oli Kikaha if available and they can start out as our situational pass rusher.

 

I think Knighton would be a great pickup. He's a very good run stuffer. He wouldn't be cheap but he would command elite money either. Definitely on my want list.

I wonder if we have to overpay free agents just to get them to come here compared to them going to a team that's ready to win now?

 

For some reason even the solid players the Titans bring in just plain suck in a Titans uniform.

Maybe try for one superstar on either side of the ball this year? Throw a bunch of money at a pass rusher or even a stud WR and see what happens.

If some of the young guys can developed and we get some production out of the draft, maybe a superstar FA is the way to go.

 

I say the Titans throw some CAP at someone 30+ comming off surgery

 

Since the productive players always end up sucking. Maybe an overage injured player can do the opposite and actually be good. You may be on to something.

 

If there's one big name FA out there I want, it's Justin Houston. We need outside pass rush help BAD! Although he'd be expensive, I think he'll be worth it. He's a really hard worker and doesn't take.plays off ever! I don't think he'll be a bust like other big name FA.

If we sign him and draft Williams from USC.... I would cream my pants. That right there would make our D soooooo much better. I actually would be fine with keeping griffin and sign a solid CB to play withJ mac.

And as much I would love to have JPP cause of he's freakish talent and athleticism, he's a lazy player and is wanting to get paid like a top DE/OLB. And we don't even know if he'd succeed in a 3-4.

Houston
Cromartie or another solid CB
Draft Williams or even Gregory
Sign a RT to compete with Oher
Sign Hoyer to compete with Mett
And a WR to replace Nate

Just those players could really change our team around. Especially on the D side which I think we really need to improve more then the O. Cause I think we have the talent on the O (Sankey Wright Hunter Walker Mett Lewan Warmack McCluster if used right.) On D we have Casey.... and maybe Williamson. I like Jmac but dont think he should covering top WR on each team all day every play. which if we bring in a Cromartie or something, they can play just a side.

But I can only dream of this tho. I'd be surprised if one of these things even happen.

 

Houston is going nowhere, the Chiefs will franchise tag him if they don't agree on a contract.

 

No way they let him go, but if they do we need to jump all over that. Im all for overpaying him.

 

Rumor is Fitzgerald will be released.

Anyone think Whiz will try and go after him?
