To me, Winston is the next VY. I think Mett can be the guy, but he needs a better O line presence. I agree that defense should be first. What really anoys me about our D line the complete inability to shuck a block. Other teams can do it to our O line and turn off our run game or get to our QB.

Winston is a better pro prospect (from physical talent perspective) than VY IMO so I try to limit any of my comparisons of him to VY to the whole "drama queen" thing.

Last night I saw a bit of that "drama" on the sidelines with him. Fisher (ironic on the last name I guess) was almost parental to him at times on the sidelines. Some of that is to be expected at the college level I guess, but it just looked really concerning to me. I have seen enough drama with the Titans...really don't want to see more.

Agreed. I think Washington will be elsewhere, and Hunter will never been anything more than a #3 or 2 at best, so they have to figure something out. It is WAY too easy to defense against the current group.

Yepper. That is what I was referring to. Not the physical side, but the mental\emotional. The way I have always given my view of how the VY thing went down is this:

VY was a stud in HS and college. With the defenses in HS and even college, QB's can shine as long as they are athletic and can run. (This is why college games end up with 56 to 43 type scores)

VY has his momma and entourage telling him he is God and the greatest QB who ever lived. Never mind poor throwing mechanics, football smarts, etc. None of that matters, you are VY!

He gets into the NFL. It does not take long for VY to realize"I cannot throw" This is where it starts.

Yeah, he had wins, mostly with his legs, but not being able to measure up to the demands of the pro game led to his walking off the field and then the episode at night. This continued and why is no longer in the NFL. At least that is my take. I could be wrong, but I see a little of this in Winston, not to say he could not overcome it.

Imo winston won't turn out anything like vy. The main reason is because he can play in the pocket and make all the throws a nfl qb should and has to be able to make. Vy, due to his abilities has almost unstoppable in hs and college, when he came here he couldnt use his legs like he always had. Winston wont have this issue and his sideline antics show his competitiveness. A ton of nfl and college players get hype on the sidelines.

Winston doesn't run the ball like VY did. He is a legit pocket passer. He is going to be good at the next level.

Greatest single game performance by a QB in college history. He put the team on his back and the biggest stage.

Drama? He was on the sideline pep talking his entire offensive team trying to get them not to quit. I love his competitive spirit. I'm kinda glad I got to watch how he handled a loss. He handled it like a pro and showed a lot of heart. Yeah him and his coach might have had a heated conversation both they are both competitors. That's was Winston's first loss in his college career and I think he handled superbly.
