You're not supposed to "enjoy" that...

Definitely don't watch Pulp Fiction. lol

Although, I must say you're missing out.

Went and seen Top 5 today. It was pretty fun. I doubt many of you in here would like it, but if you are a fan of Chris Rock comedy you won't be disappointed.

I never watched Django, but inglorious basterds didn't exactly live up to expectations for me, either. neither did death proof, though, with the exception of the car chase and Kurt Russell, who is always awesome.

Loved Resevoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, though.

It is kinda funny how Tarantino references knoxville in some way or another in all his films, too.

Never saw Death Proof. Didn't interest me.

Basterds and Django, Tarantino went a different route with. I thought they were both great. Both revisionist history films that he made to appeal to larger masses, I think. They were a lot more straight forward and easier to follow for the average movie-goer.

And yea, he's from Knoxville... I can't remember, but I thought it was just Tennessee he referenced every movie, not necessarily Knoxville. Knoxville was mentioned in Pulp Fiction, and all the clocks in the movie are set to 4:20.

It seems a lot of people missed the point of the Grindhouse flicks.

I'm a huge Tarantino fan. I don't care about his "homages"/"thievery"/whatever you wanna call it. He also seems like a pretty big douche. But the guy makes really entertaining movies. I know it's all subjective but IMO I can't think of many current filmmakers who have his kind of hit ratio and epic track record.

The wife and I had a movie day after opening up gifts yesterday morning. Watched the new TMNT and Tusk.

TMNT was better than I was expecting. Pretty fun ride. I'd definitely watch it again and am now looking forward to the sequel.

Tusk.... I'm still not sure how I feel about. It's like the tale of two movies. The first 45 minutes or so I was pleasantly surprised. It was genuinely creepy and I was beginning to think "What in the hell are the haters talking about? This is great." Then Johnny Depp showed up and it kinda seemed to fly off the rails. The entire tone of the film changed. And that ending.... ugh. It feels like it could've landed but it just didn't for some reason.

All that said, I didn't hate it. It was a unique experience for sure. In a world where people are constantly pissing and moaning about remakes, reboots, and rehashed ideas I think Kevin Smith should be given props for trying something different. Even if it did have its flaws.

I enjoyed Death Proof a lot more than Django or Basterds.
Tarantino's way better at ripping Jack Hill flicks than Sergio Leone films…
If he stuck to ganking stuff like The Warriors or Spider Baby I would probably be a big fan. He fancies himself bigger than that though and that's where he fails. And I think he gets a boner saying n*****, which is just creepy.
