Has there been a QB that scored low on the wonderlic and still had a good NFL career?

Depends on what you consider low. McNair and Jim Kelly scored 15s. Scoring highly definitely doesn't mean ****. Blaine Gabbert scored in the 40s.

Wonderlic means very little.. Can't go offense first two rounds again.. I love that 3rd round pick though.

Marino had one of the lowest scores ever. Watching him on the studio shows, you can tell he isn't smart at all. He can't keep up when the other guys go off the cuff.

Beating Kiper is impressive................................................ McShay, not so much.

Back to the point, you are right. The actual decision makers have not even begun to look at the rookies. The GMs, Player Personal Directors, Head Coaches, etc. And why would they? It is five months before they have to make a decision. Still way too much that has to go on.

It's dumb to an extent. Fitzpatrick got a perfect score, so obviously it doesn't automatically mean you're a good QB.

But a very low score like VY's is definitely a red flag.

When you score in the 10-12 range it's pretty telling.

And when you're Jameis Winston, believe me, the Wonderlic is going to matter. That and how well he interviews will be huge.

And I gotta say... I'm not expecting much in the brightness category.

The good is they do a 3 rnd mock. the bad is I disagree with a lot of their grades. He had Kendricks in rnd 1 previously?

Only the Bucs know which QB they like better and it's very possible they take Winston over Mariota.

In his mock (assuming no trades) I'd have taken...
    rnd 1 DE Leonard Williams
rnd 2 NT Danny Shelton (can you say GREAT DL? I CAN!)
    rnd 3 OLB Kikaha

I think he has players all over the place but I'd be thrilled if we got those picks in rnd 1-3 (though not as pysched in getting huge numbers of draft picks in exchange for trading down a bit).

    A front 7 of...

    RDE Casey
    NT Shelton
    LDE LWilliams
    ROLB Houston (free agent)
    ILB Brown
    ILB Williamson
    LOLB Morgan/Kikaha on passing downs

    ...would be awesome!

I see no chance Danny Shelton could get past the Pats first rnd pick. Wilfork is done and Shelton looks like a younger Wilfork...only better! Course, then I'd take Cam Erving!!!

Definitely want to see him interviewed in film study, chalk talk, and on the field with Jon Gruden!!!

    I would much rather see...
    1st DE Leonard Williams
2nd OLB Markus Golden/Alvin Dupree (if one should fall)
    3rd NT Jordan Phillips

Shelton is likely a first, and Kikaha knee injuries concern me. Horton likes to use every position for his blitz packages so having OLB who can rush doesn't concern me as much. I want our front-7 to be big and physical and force teams to throw on us.

Speaking of Leonard Williams he has come out and stated he would love to play for the Raiders. They currently pick @ 5. They could be a possible trade canidate to move back a few spots to acquire additional picks. They have no impact defensive lineman and Williams is being compared to a young Seymour, he would make a nice addition to a defense with Mack on it. Unless they are looking to go Cooper for Carr.
