its pretty simple line of thinking, Im shocked more teams dont try it.

in baseball youre always looking for pitching, in basketball youre always looking for point guards, and in football you should do the same, look for the biggest impact position and get it right at all costs

I completely agree that the constant search for the franchise QB is absolutely necessary; however, before that can happen all existing talents agents need to be corraled and shot for running up extremely ridiculous rookie contracts. I don't care how talented someone is, a rookie contract should never have any number over 6 digits. The owners need to step up a d put a stop to this crap. At the vey least, make it merit-based. Big Ben had a huge rookie contract that had lots of unrealistic merit conditions but he actually met them all. We've been screwed twice in a row by VY and Locker...EIGHT years down the tubes for nothing and all that contract money pissed away. Fix THAT and you can build a team.

I dont mind the top 10 draft picks getting over paid, normally theyre well worth their cost. 2011 lockout got one thing right in a pay scale based on where youre drafted.

But you gotta find a QB, they last twice as long as anyone else on the team, you can actually build around a player who'll be there for 8+ years. Its poor planing to build around RB's and defenses, 3, 4 years tops til theres a significant drop off there.

Rookie contracts are much better than they ever have been. See: Sam Bradford vs Andrew luck and then get at me.

Continuing the theme from several other discussions on this board, what percentage of top ten picks work out?...especially at QB?

    30%-40%.

Qbs are much more likely to be boom or bust in general so I can't say there's an exact science to it.

I will however say we could have drafted teddy. We drafted a future LT who's been playing better than the rest of the line at least.

I do believe we were going after Carr tho and missed
