Guys like Williams(Big-Tall-athletic) have a very low bust rate. While you can cite an occsional can't miss guy like a Jamaal Anderson who went bust they are less common.

Williams has characteristics of a Muhammed Wilkerson or even a guy like Marcus Stroud if he can get stronger. He is the safest prospect in the top 10. Can excel as a DT in a 4-2-5 nickel or as a base 3-4 end.

Imagine passing situations where you have to choose who to double team he or Casey.

Arik Armstead(Oregon) and Carl Davis(Iowa) are my other 2 favorite D-linemen. Both have freakish characteristics and could move up with their workouts.

Armstead is perfect as a 3-4 end.

I like Carl Davis at NG could play 3-4 de also he's a second day guy he's been up and down all year.

Armstead is interesting. Oregon has him at 6'8 and 290 but it's probably more like 6'7 and 280 at the best. He was the top overall prospect a couple years ago at OT but when he desired to play defense his ranking took a big hit. He definitely has the size, he knows how to work his hands, and is crazy athletic. He would be a perfect end for us. However he's a projected 2nd round pick and after he kills the combine he'll be a 1st round pick. So I doubt we get him even if we go Gregory with the 1st pick or QB or whatever.

OK Gut, let's say the draft is tomorrow and we are picking at #2 with no trade options, who do you take???

My hope is that we get a trade very close to what the RG3 trade made, but if we have to take a guy who is it right now?? Also who are some guys flying under the radar I should look at?

Always enjoy your posts especially on picks. Give me some magic! LOL. Spent the day at my mother in laws and need a pick me up! LOL

First, there will be plenty of trade options. Even at HALF the value the Rams got it's probably worth it to make the trade if we drop down to say #4 or #5. Heck, I might drop again if I could get a fair deal!

Second, I don't think anyone has a perfect idea as to who are the top 5 players in this draft so a guy I might take at #2 might still be there at #4 or even #5. Jets fans have given up complaining about winning dropping them out of contention for Winston or Mariota. They want the 3rd pick for Cooper!

But to answer your question, I would take Leonard Williams if I thought Mettenberger has a decent chance to be our guy and I have to choose today. If I'm not sold on Mettenberger (and it's possible Whiz and Webster keep their job by telling Tommy they simply don't have the QB), I take Mariota over Winston knowing I'm still probably starting Mettenberger next year while developing Mariota. Of course, some of these decisions will hinge on my plan going forward in FA for starters. If I sign Suh in FA, I'm taking Mariota. Let's put it this way. If the upside for these 3 players is Big Ben (Winston), Russell Wilson (for Mariota) and Suh (for Leonard Williams), which do you take though the QB's may need a year before they can help. There is no Big Ben or Russell Wilson in FA, but there will be a Suh!

I just can't look at Cooper in the top 5 til I see his real measurables (height, weight, speed, blah blah blah). People will think I'm crazy but I'm not even sure he's the first WR off the board until we see his and other players measureables.

Plus, I need to see the measureables of all 40+ players who could end up in round 1. I have not been impressed with gregory as a top 5 pick in games I've watched and was really disappointed Ray got himself kicked out of the Bama game though I think Ray has a lot of potential and for me is a better pass rusher right now.

So all of the above could and likely will change.

As for sleepers? How much of a sleeper are you looking for...like a guy who will most likely be drafted much higher than currently listed or best bang for your buck on a mid-late rnd player who I think could start or even be a star?

I think a guy like Oakman could potentially end up in top 10 or better depending on how his combine goes. people will be looking for the next JJ Watt and Oakman has freakish ability while being BIGGER than the NFL norm which coaches LOVE.

Sleepers to me come in 1 of a few different packages. One, they have 1-3rd rnd athletic ability but not the production. Second a red flag case (medical or off the field). Third is great football player with 'bad' physical attributes. Suprisingly, Jerry Rice fit the last category as he ran something like a 4.6 40 but somehow was able to run past cb's who could run a 4.2 or 4.3 40 so running in shorts isn't everything.

Then again, there are some players I watch and think could be studs but everyone else has that guy as a 3-5th rnd guy. I think Justin Forsett fits that mold. Again, all of these guys have to get measured athletically, but PJ Williams couldn't cover him very well and yet Williams is probably a first round pick and ppl have Dorsett as a 3-4th roundr (moved up from solid 4th). I think he's a faster Kendall Wright. People drop him down because of his size but isn't DeSean Jackson a starter? Isn't Kendall?

For a red flag guy keep an eye on Devonte Fields. I've seen him on some as undrafted to 4th rnd. It's not so much who gets him where but can you develop him. Think Burfict but a better pass rusher but major red flag.

I really like Kendricks (UCLA but his combine may really drop him). He's a tackling machine and ALWAYS around the ball. Yes, the Kendricks on the Eagles is a relation. Also Stephone Anthony and Grady Jarrett...both from Clemson.

If we stay at #2 and go defense and don't take Gregory I will be mad. He's impressed me in every game I've watched this year. An athletic, tall, lean freak of a dude.

I have no problem taking an OLB at 3 if they are a Von Miller type talent but I don't see Gregory or Ray as that good. I would take Williams or Shelton.

Gregory doesn't excite me. Ray however shows multiple ways to win, speed and the mentality this team is missing. I'd try to trade back a few spots, still go after ray. , if we miss on him, we can still get some BPA for whatever is left.
