Under Whiz, the Chargers ranked 5th in total offense (4th in passing and 13th in rushing).

They were 5th in rushing attempts.

The fact of the matter is our personnel sucks. We rarely run the ball because we get behind way too quickly, and our OL opens up no holes anyways.

If you go look at the bottom quarter of the league in rushing attempts, the majority of teams there will suck. Most of these teams are also playing from behind and have bad defenses... which almost always means you will have fewer rushing attempts than most teams.

In addition, we've actually run the fewest plays from scrimmage in the league. We average 31.9 pass attempts per game (25th) to 21.7 rush attempts per game (30th).

We pass 59.5% and run 40.5%.

The bigger issue here is that we're not running enough plays... which means we have way too many three and outs and our defense stays on the field too long.

On the flip side, our defense has been on the field more than any team in the league (other than the Eagles which is skewed due to Kelly's fast paced offense).

So yes... Our offense has run fewer plays than any team and our defense has been on the field more than any team. That's a recipe for disaster and summarizes why we are 2-12.

I looked over Whiz' teams over the years, the trend is he runs less and less every year, but youre right to say we dont have the personnel, when he had Bettis in Pittsburgh they did nothing but run.

Cutting him doesn't save $6 million. It saves $200,000. We have like $6.3 in dead money next year according to his deal.

no chance in hell he is worth 6 million dollars in his current state. He was JAG on this horrible Titans O-line this year.. and he WASN'T coming off of a major injury.
He's gotta go, or take a lot less money.

I'm not so excited about this news.. but I am a scrooge.

Would welcome him back on 1/3 of his salary, or less.
