Umm he is EXACTLY mobile that's why he has 700 rushing yards this season. Just cause he looks to throw first doesn't mean he isn't exactly mobile. He is a million times the runner of both those QB's.

We are 32nd against the run. We give up 144 yards per game. We need Leonard Williams.

I'd grab Amari Cooper. Handful of reasons:

He's the playmaker WR we actually need; not the WR we hope develops into a playmaker (Wright, Hunter).

Mariota? How many Duck QBs are currently playing in the NFL again?

I really don't want to have to watch Jacksonville torch us with him twice a year for the next decade.

After that I'd draft straight defense.

Not really accurate. We give up more yards per game because the opposing team is running more plays against our defense so of course you will give up more yards. It's not the defense's fault our Offense can't move the ball or score.

We are tied for 17th in ypc which is a much better indicator but not the only one. We are bottom 10 in First Down percentage given up vs the run. So I'm not saying we're good, we're just not as terrible as you think. And when the D is rested we do get a lot of spurts where we shut down opposing run games. When they are tired and on the field a lot, they can be driven into the ground.

Leonard Williams is a good player. How about we sign Suh instead? He's dominant, also rushes the passer, is on the defense that is #1 vs the run, and is likely available in FA.

I don't see Cooper as a top 5 pick. There could be 7 wr's with a first round grade. Do you think he's head and shoulders over all of them? Is he better than a franchise LT, QB, DT, pass rusher?

I don’t necessarily want to draft Mariota but I’m not against it either. However, I think there are some misconceptions about his game that need to be addressed, especially in light of some comments of fans who say they wouldn’t even watch the Titans/would stop being a fan if they drafted him. That’s a strong statement about a guy that most scouts believe has the tools to be a franchise QB. I think most of this reaction is due to the fact that fans who don’t want to draft Mariota put him in the same category as Jake and VY just because he can run and the assume because runs he will get hurt (goodness knows between Jake & VY we have had our share of injuries). Yes Mariota can run and is very mobile, but a lot of the time the play is designed for him to run due to the system he plays in. It’s not like he’s going out there and winging it and taking off when his first read isn’t open ala Johnny Football. Mariota runs his college system to perfection and there’s no reason to think he can’t perfect an NFL system with the tools he has at his disposal.

Also, don’t think that just because he can run, that doesn’t mean he can’t throw the ball. There is a misconception that all of his passes are quick screens or two yard outs. He actually throws the ball downfield quite a bit and is accurate. There was one point in his career he threw 265 passes without an interception. He also has a higher completion percentage than Locker or Mettenberger but most importantly he protects the football. He has only thrown 2 interceptions this year to 38 touchdowns. That’s Aaron Rodgers type of ball protection and frankly something we as fans haven’t had in a QB in a long time.

Mariota is also a big guy. Not sure if you realize he’s 6’4, 220. I also think most people assume because he’s so fast that he must also be small like Manziel or Russell Wilson. With that body type, he can stand up better to the beating he will take in the NFL (but I’m not sure anyone can stand up to the beating they take behind our current line).

I will say however, that I don’t think the Titans will draft him as long as Whisenhunt is the coach, unless our coach is completely overruled and forced to take him. I would hate to pass on a guy who could be a franchise QB and reminds me of a big version of Russell Wilson, just because our coach is too stubborn and set in his ways to change his offense to adapt to his players.

One fair criticism of Mariota is that he fumbles a lot. He has 27 fumbles in 39 games.
