    Blake Bortles:

    Played 8 games: 6.9 yards per attempt - 8 Tds - 14 ints - QBR 25.6 - passer rating 72.2 - comp % 63.3

    Teddy Bridgewater:

    Played 7 games: 6.5 yards per attempt - 4 Tds - 6 ints - QBR 40.9 - passer rating - 75 - comp % 60.9

    Derek Carr:

    Played 10 games: 5.59 yards per attempt - 13 Tds - 9 ints - QBR 41 - passer rating 76.8 - comp % 59.8

Those are the most hyped rookie QBs that the media is in love with right now ... and none of those numbers are very special. None have more than 7 yards per attempt. I think this is a very important stat which often gets overlooked. Carr is actually dead last in the NFL in YPA, Bridgewater ranked 29th and Bortles 25th.

Basically this helps to show how they are doing a lot of 'dinking and dunking' type QB play. Which is common for a rookie, so they get a pass, but to be a real NFL QB, this number needs to be much higher

Also look at the TD to int ratio ... Bortles has thrown nearly twice as many ints as TDs, and bridgewater is also throwing ints and a faster rate than TDs ... again, most people let these things slide for a rookie, but it is something they must fix. (Carr has looked very good here though)

All have respectable comp %, but when you see the YPA, you can see why (they are throwing a lot of short passes)

QBR is slightly below average for all (but as rookies, it is expected). And Passer ratings are a little low.

    Now lets compare to Mett

    Zach Mettenberger:

    Played 3 games: 7.81 yards per attempt - 5 Tds - 4 ints - QBR 40.5 - Passer rating 86.2 - comp % 62

Mett's YPA is significantly higher than the rest of the Rookies. (remember how low all the other rookies ranked in this category?) Well Mett ranks in the tops of the league here (#8 actually).

Mett has played less than half the games of Bridgewater ... but has already thrown more TDs.

People have been ragging on Metts int last week, but Bortles is averging nearly 2 ints per game! Mett is right at 1 per game (have to count the colts game for this stat)

His QBR is right online with the rest of the highly touted rookies of his class, and his Passer rating is significantly higher.

Yet we pick Mett apart while the media continues to make everyone believe these other QBs are any good.

Mett is as good, if not better than any QB in this draft class.

Mett outdoes all the other rookie QBs by a mile, but of course, look which team he's on. Of course the other guys would get more attention, but I did notice he's making some headlines, at least. and we only lost the game by three points, I don't blame mett for that, he did his job, even if he threw a little off center to the receivers, but the receivers should be making more catches, for sure.

I was indifferent on Mett but I would like for him to perform well enough to get another chance at starting next year because

    1. Obviously I want a young QB to do well here.
    2. Crosses a position off our early round draft list.

If we can give Mett the reps the rest of the season, build his confidence going into next year, maybe go ahead and take Amari Cooper, load up on defense the rest of the rounds, and sign a couple key free agents then I'll feel pretty good about the next 2-3 years. If not, we'll be taking another QB early again and go through yet another down the toilet season. Monday night was the first game I've been able to see in a while but I was impressed with what Horton has done with so little. The OL was looking a little rough but I would like to try and find a Levitre replacement and maybe Oher as well. Or move Oher inside and find another RT? I thought the Wright/Hunter combo would be our dangerous duo for the next few years but just not seeing it. Rather once again draft a top WR early in Cooper and hope Wright and/or Hunter can really make the leap and have a future on this team.

That's why he's getting so many reps this season since the season is over anyway. To properly evaluate the talent they have to see if it's worth continued development, or if they need to spend a high first on another QB. If that high, likely top 5 pick can be used elsewhere it would be in the teams best interest. It's one of the few decisions I'm happy and excited about this year.

And I think I know which throw you're talking about, the ball was just behind him but Wright had his hands on it, it was catchable. You can't call Mett incredibly inaccurate when he hits the receiver in his hands. Locker throwing that ball would have been a couple feet over his head. These are things that come in time and I think Mett has better mechanics to move forward with. Nobody expected him to come in and look like Brady. Simply show the FO enough to not have to draft a QB in the early rounds so they can fix the other positions of need, and there's a lot of them...

    Just for fun ...

VY had a 48.3 passer rating against Pit in his 1st game against them (and a 1.0 QBR lol)

I think Mett is the best looking rookie QB this season after just three games.

I think you beat Philly. You might beat us. I think you're going to blow out the Giants & the Jets, roll of Jax & I hope you kill the Colts play-off hopes.

I wouldn't be surprised if you finish the season 8-8 or 7-9..
