Sure. But the people who make the rankings actually watch the majority of the teams and evaluate who they think are the better team. Or at least that's how it should be done. It's still a subjective evaluation, but I don't see how you can do it any different.

The SEC is more talented and deeper, other conferences are not. It's that simple. No one brags about beating Maryland or Louisville but going into LSU at night or surviving against another potential Auburn comeback is. It's not even just about looking at an SEC team's schedule as a whole, you have to go week by week. No disrespect to Ohio St or FSU but I look at their schedule and I wonder which basketball school they play this week. I look at Alabama's and hope they can survive against a hungry and very talented Ole Miss team, if they can hang on in Death Valley, if Miss St will finally pull it off instead of running out of gas like the last couple years, and of course the Iron Bowl where anything can happen. In July I had Bama at 9-3, a week before the season I switched to 11-1. You simply don't know what's going to happen. There is no such thing as a cupcake schedule in the SEC (unless you play in the East and have no tough OOC games).

If you somehow can't get it around your mind that your team or conference isn't the best then sorry, but at that point your rational is gone. Getting sick of having this debate over and over. Not just on here but with friends from the Big 10 area or some FSU friends. So tacky to play the disrespect card now a days.

I've already said that the SEC is the best conference. I haven't argued otherwise but to indiscriminately discredit every non-SEC team is ignorant. This is especially true for the SEC East. If you line that division up with some other divisions from the power 5 conferences, it is weaker.

Is it really insane to believe that OSU, Oregon, ASU, Baylor, or TCU may possibly be better teams than Auburn, Ole Miss, Miss St, LSU, or even Bama?

Your idea that the writers that make up the AP poll watch most of the games is naive. There is no way they can watch most meaningful games on Saturday and have the poll released by Sunday. It's impossible, there's literally not enough hours in the day for them to do it. Do you think most of these East coast writers are staying up to 2:00am to watch Pac-12 matchups?

They listen to other talking heads, check some scores, and watch a handful of games. They don't take enough into account. Unfortunately there's really no viable option to take out the subjectivity in college football but we can at least try to limit it by extending the playoff to 8 teams.

Wasn't really targeting you directly, we've had a few discussions before. Just getting a bit tired of the "SEC vs us" argument every single year in this thread. I don't think the SEC is perfect by any means. Ole Miss should be the 2nd best team in the conference but after that play in Auburn they're toast, even if they beat Miss St. It's not insane but at the same time you're listing out the best teams through out the country and comparing them to teams in just one division. It's obviously a stacked division and unfortunately they're all beating up on each other which could mean no SEC teams in the top 4 at the end of the year. If I were to rank those teams I would probably go...

    1. Bama
    2. Miss St (hesitant to swap them and Oregon)
    3. Oregon
    4. Baylor
    5. Ole Miss (Treadwell healthy would be #2)
    6. Ohio St (basically a tie with Ole Miss)
    7. TCU
    8. Auburn (drop off after this)
    9. LSU
    10. ASU

I hate Ohio State- but there are no SEC teams more talented than they are. It's even.

Same with most large schools. The FSU's, Miami's, Notre Dame's, etc... it isn't a talent thing.

It's a media, good weather thing.

Better THAN, not then. Did you go to a Tennessee school?

I hate grammar police but since you were talking about schools, I couldn't resist.
