In case you didn't know, Melvin Gordon DESTROYED Nebraska in helping his Badgers beat them. Oh yeah, in doing so he broke the NCAA record for rushing yards in a single game. How many did Gordon get...

    408yds and 4 TD's on 25 carries (16.3yd avg)!!!

At his current rate of production he is on pace to break the single season rushing yardage put up by HOF Barry Sanders in 1988.

And lest you think Nebraska has a bad run D he took advantage of, leading into the game Nebraska had the 19th best run D in the NCAA and features a top 10 OLB on D.

If Gordon wasn't in the conversation for the Heisman before, he is now!

He doesn't have the acceleration of Jamaal Charles nor the top end speed, but he has a very good burst and quick change of direction and looks a bit like him (beyond them wearing the same #).

I know he's projected mid 1st, but RBs always fall. It would be awful to pass on Gordon in the 2nd, but we just have so many other needs.

If Gurley or Gordon are there with our second I don't think you pass. These are two complete backs capable of carrying a team by themselves. They are rare these days and will get you in trouble passing on them for a need.

I have been watching him for the past three seasons. His speed is deceptive, but I would agree that he is not in the Charles zone with that. He is very good at hitting the hole and finding openings on the interior. He also has deceptive power, often breaking tackles at least once before going down. For the first two seasons he was purely a runner, but this season (and preceding offseason) he spent a great deal of time/effort developing his receiving and pass blocking skills, and it has shown this season.

The best part about him is his attitude and work ethic. He has shared the RB role with another very good player this season (Corey Clement) without complaint, and is a very hard worker in practice/during offseason.

In short, if this were 10 years ago he would be a sure fire early first rounder. With the current valuation of running backs I see him as a late first round/early second round pick. He will be a starter (potentially a star) in the NFL if he stays healthy (which, based on his past, is a high likelihood).

I would love to see him in a Titans uniform, and hope that opportunity arises.

No doubt he is worth at least a 2nd round pick. You don't break the NCAA single game rushing record against the 19th best defense which feature a top 5 defensive player (Gregory) and not be impressive. Problem is, no one will look good at RB or QB if we don't get this OL situation fixed in a hurry.

If we trade down in the first and get more picks in the 1-3rd rnd range, I WOULD take him!!!

This is why we should have stayed in place last year and drafted Jordan Matthews and not drafted Sankey. I knew this years crop of RBs were going to be better and now that Gurley is hurt and could possibly fall, there's no way we can pass on him in the 2nd, even with taking Sankey in the 2nd last year.

I do think if we can trade back that might be a good option. Especially a top 5 pick we can get several picks.

Fun fact: he did it in 3 quarters. They sat him for the entire 4th quarter lol.

Funny thing is he only held the record for one week. Lol that sucks.

But like Scarecrow said, if Gurley or Gordon are there in the 2nd we gotta take them. Look what the Bengals did with their last two drafts. Bernard in 2nd. Hill in 2nd. They complement each other very well.

He did it on 25 carries. Perine, who broke his record went against a creampuff defense that I could have run for 100yds against and did it on 34 carries. To put that in perspective, if Gordon had gotten 9 more carries at his YPC, hed have had like another 130yds or something and this wouldn't be a discussion. lol

I like Gordon's attitude too about it. Funny thing he wasn't as surprised that it was broken (he should have been) but by who broke it. He had no idea who Perine was...lol

Only difference is the Bengals already have a good QB and an OL and a defense.
