Then you must not know how to evaluate a quarterback

He stares down his WR's and makes inaccurate throws. He also has a cannon. When applied pressure he is incredibly inaccurate. That's what I've seen so far. He had Wright wide open on 3rd down late in the game on a crossing pattern that would have been a big gain. Instead he made a bad throw and Wright couldn't catch it. It was a 5 yard pass.

He's shown enough to keep the tests coming. I just hope the amount of remaining games left is enough time for us to evaluate him.

He also had defender at his legs and couldn't step into the throw. Sometimes you have to look at what going on. Like the throw to Washington for TD, don't take into account he had defender in his face . One could nit pick Peyton manning, and Brady etc. he has 6 more games. This is an evaluation not a he can't be the guy or he can't do it. He might not be the guy and he just might be. One more thing I think is important, he is a rookie. He brings charisma and energy into this team. This team has needed that for long time. We have had a team going through the motions long enough. He has personality . You may not like it but give him credit for being himself. I really am excited about our youth movement on this team. I hope veterans catch the fever. Most life I seen out of this team since Chiefs game. Another thing about Mett, he not just glad to be the starter, he wants to win. Says eating him they not won yet with him as starter. I like that he not a content 6th round rookie being starting QB. We need more players not content with losing. Again maybe it's contagious. We need it to be. Go Titans.

I really think it has to do with his draft position (which is retarded). People seem to be a lot more lenient on 1st round picks. As long as they can put together a few good drives, or some good plays, a couple of good games, then the fans and media will both hang their hat on that. All because they were a 1st rd pick, they are supposed to be good, and have all the hype.

But with Mett, fans/media seem to be much more critical. We nitpick every little thing he does wrong because he is a 6th round pick, he isn't supposed to be any good.

Locker was a 1st round pick, and we spent years trying to make excuses for his mistakes. Exact same thing with VY ... and any time they showed even the slightest amount of progress, we were quick to point it out and say "see, I told you he was the QBOTF"

This is an ass backwards approach though. 1st round picks should be held to a higher standard. We should nitpick everything they do since they are supposed to be good.

Blake Bortles is a prime example of that this year. He was the 1st QB taken. He should be the best QB of this draft class (according to his draft position). The media should hold him to the highest standard.

But they don't. They are all up his ass, when he really hasn't played that well. Dude throws TONS of ints, and basically gets all of his yards from screen passes.

The media gave him credit for the Jags win, even though he played very poorly in that game.

In his first three starts he has a better passer rating then any of the other rookie qbs in the class.

    I'm not complaining

Yea perception is reality. It is easier to envision a 1st round pick getting their act together than say a 6th round pick.

However, I tend to view it for what its worth with Mett. For a 6th rounder I'd say he is great, right? You think what you want in a 6th round QB and I would say you are looking for a competent backup -trade bait at best.

For him to come in and actually get a shot or be in any sort of "franchise QB" talk is impressive by itself. We'll see how long that lasts. He is certainly already better than Rusty. I can't remember a better potential back up since Voleck was here.

I know hindsight is 20/20 and I think we did well this past draft, especially if Mettenberger works out. But I REALLY wanted Martavis Bryant in the 4th round when he was still there. He was still on the board when we took DaQuan Jones but gone by the time our 2nd pick in the 4th when we took Marqueston. I think DaQuan has potential but I think Bryant would have been able to help us right away.

funny thing in Mett interview, he said when drafted by Titans in 6th round he envisioned him coming in and starting THIS year. Now that maybe cocky for 6th round pick, but lots of confidence there.
