I wouldn't call McCarthy good. He was just the best that we'd had in a while. nothing special. The knock on him pre draft was that he couldn't stay healthy and that's proved to be bang on.

Ultimately he's another wasted pick. He's a UFA next season, I hope that we don't re-sign him.

1 step backwards to go forwards. If you have the right plan (not saying they do or I would have one either) you can win quickly in today's NFL. We see a worst to first nearly every year now.

To all the people claiming we should take a QB with a top 10 pick until we get it right.

If that's your opinion, fine I won't bash it but you loose the right to complain about us taking Locker over JJ Watt.

So the following are Titans set to be free agents next season:
    James Anderson
    Antonio Andrews
    Jackie Battle
    Beau Brinkley
    Chase Coffman
    Kris Durham
    Richard Gordon
    Quentin Groves
    Derek Hagan
    Brandon Harris
    Gabe Ikard
    Brett Kern
    Karl Klug
    Jake Locker
    Colin McCarthy
Derrick Morgan (has 2015 in contract but is voidable)
    Shaun Phillips
    Michael Roos
    Chris Spencer
    Josh Stewart
    Byron Stingly
    Ryan Succop
    Will Sviteck
    Leon Washington
    Nate Washington
    George Wilson

I think we should sign Kern longterm. Would be nice to keep Klug but we don't really use him much, only if cheap. Exercise Morgan's final year (1.5million) because its affordable. George Wilson would be good depth for right price. Succop and Leon Washington maybe.

Other than that, nobody we need to spend any cap space on. Sorry for Roos to end but I think we did him a favor ending his season early so he could sign somewhere next year.

Set to expire after 2015 season:
    Zach Brown
    Shonn Greene
    Sammie Lee Hill
    Mike Martin
    Bernard Pollard
    Coty Sensabaugh
    Craig Stevens
    Taylor Thompson
    Charlie Whitehurst
    Kendall Wright

A lot of these guys can be cut to save cap space. I would like to extend Kendall Wright. I want Sammie Lee Hill to give me more reason for a re-signing but he's worth consideration at the right price. Depending on how things go I could see Whitehurst as QB2 or QB3 on a one year extension.

Other than that, lots of bums to cut or play out their final year.

    Under contract beyond 2015 season:
    Jurrell Casey
Zavier Gooden (cheap 2016 contract, then free agent)
Michael Griffin (expensive 2016 as final year)
Justin Hunter (2016 is final year of rookie contract)
    DaQuan Jones
    Andy Levitre
Dexter McCluster (2016 is final year of contract)
    Jason McCourty
    Zach Mettenberger
Michael Oher (can be cut without cap penalty after 2015)
Ropati Pitoitua (2016 is final year of contract)
    Bishop Sankey
Brian Schwenke (2016 is final year of rookie contract)
Damion Stafford (cheap 2016 contract then free agent)
Delanie Walker (2016 is final year of contract)
Champ Warmack (has "club option" for 2017 in rookie contract)
    Avery Williamson
    Wesley Woodyard
BWW (2016 is final year of rookie contract)

Bight the bullet and cut Levitre, will suck cause it cost some cap space. These other deals are mostly rookie deals, or cheap extensions for depth players. Casey and McCourty have some high dollar long contracts.

So while we can't say that we have an abundance of talent, or much at all even, we at least are set up in a cap friendly way that can produce lots of roster turnover with few bad long contracts.

I think Webster has to at least get some credit for that. He has the coaching staff in a good position, it was one of the reasons I think Whis like TN is he knew the ability was there to make a lot of moves.

I don't think you have to take them in the top10, but we should be targeting in the first 3 rounds AND another in the final 4 rounds until we get ONE for sure good QB.

How would you manage that playing time though? You have to let these guys take lumps and grow. Plus that would also assume you know whether or not you have a franchise guy after one year.

Whoever wins the jobs is the starter unless he sucks. The other guy sits on the bench and learns like Aaron Rodgers or Brock Osweiler or Kirk Cousins. You hope you either end up with two greats or make a tradeable situation in the other. (Redskins blew it by not attempting to trade Cousins when he had value).

    I'd Re-sign...
Klug (he is our 2nd best DL pass rusher besides Casey)
Succop (depending on how he does the rest of the season)
    Kern (for a reasonable contract)
Morgan (for that price, keep him another year)

    Maybe...
Wilson (depending on what we are doing at our 2 S spots and if cheap)
Roos (depending on what we do with Levitre/Oher and how much he wants)
Leon Washington (if he can get anything done this year and at what price)

Might re-sign for min type contract
    Groves
    Phillips
    Hagan
    Harris
Nate for a vet min contract
At some point we will get an experienced OT and OG as backups as well as others but it doesn't have to be our guys.

There isn't a lot I give Webster credit for as he has wasted or overdrafted a ton of our draft picks AND given players large contracts they don't deserve (Griff comes to mind). The ability for teams to be able to turn over a lot of players over a short number of years is more of a product of the salary cap era and the fact that we don't have as many star players who would already be signed to long term contracts. That's just the way it is. I will give Webster credit for Casey's contract though!

Although Williamson and BWW are looking really good right now, it is too early to hang your hat on them being stars or even starters next year. Time and production will tell.

But I agree with you, you need to trim the fat this season. Getting rid of avg players who are highly overpaid will go a lot towards changing the culture of this team!!!

Why do you think Mannion has GREAT mechanics? He gathers the ball when he throws medium to deep which are bad mechanics for the NFL and will have to be changed most likely. Granted, I havent watched a ton of tape on him but the few times Ive seen him, I noticed that.

Watch his footwork. Always throws with a squared body. He has a tall lean frame so his delivery is expected to be elongated, but not awkwardly.
