I was more impressed by watching how he played than by the stat line. He stood in the pocket and didn't seem rattled. For a rookie standing across from the likes of JJ Watt, that was impressive.

I think he will play well enough to compete for the job next year. Hopefully well enough that he is competing with a vet backup type and not have to waste a high first on a QB.

the stat line is skewed by the fact most of those yards came in garbage time. it does not show the fact that through three quarters mett could not keep a drive going. which led to the defense being worn out.

Yep, a lot of those yards came on the last 3 drives when the game was well over. He was forcing a lot of throws in the beginning and was way off on the long throws. I did like his poise in the pocket, but let's not get carried away with the stats. I do hope he builds on this game and through the bye week and becomes the QB this franchise needs so we can go out and get the best OLB in the draft instead of another QB.

I expect to see a different Mett after the bye. He'll have a solid two weeks to work on timing with his receivers.

On a couple of the deep balls to Hunter he claims he's too fast and didn't want to under throw him. They will be on the same page shortly.

You can clearly see he has a connection with Hunter....I hope that wakes up Hunter and he becomes the player we all expected.

Also a bad thing at this point. The whole first have he was forcing the ball to hunter. He needs to develope trust with all of them and work his progressions.

For a 6th round rookie in his 1st start, I liked what I saw.

In his 1st start, I really expected to see a lot of mistakes, jitters, and not being on the same page with his receivers. But I wanted to see some flashes of ability there as well.

And I think that is exactly what we saw from Mett. He made some mistakes and missed on some passes, but also showed some flashes. With more reps in practice and in games, those mistakes will lessen and the flashes will become more consistent.

One play that particularly stands out (I think it was in the 3rd Q), Mett moves up in the pocket to avoid heavy pressure and delivers a strike down the field to his receiver (walker maybe?) ... I don't think I have ever seen Locker navigate the pocket like that.

It also seemed like Mett was doing well in keeping his eyes down field, but still knowing where is check downs were. In his first few starts, he will need to lean heavily on his check downs to keep us in favorable down and distance. I don't need to see him become Brett Favre over night or anything. Just want to see that he can run the offense and improve week to week.

This experience is invaluable for Mett right now. I think by the end of the year we will have seen some substantial growth in him, but even still we can't expect him to look like a top 10 QB after half a year.

Mett has all the tools needed to be a NFL QB (arm strength, accuracy, etc). If he can just show that he is able to adjust to the speed of the game, and improve every week, then I think that will be enough for us to not take a QB in the 1st this year. Probably just take another mid-round QB and a vet, and let them compete for the job ... If Mett can come out on top of that competition, then I think he deserves a full season.
