Locker was also playing with a high school JV squad, while Mett was on one of the most talented teams in the country.

You know what makes threads like these failures?

The minute you point out reality, and try to reign in some of the people going off into space, you immediately get labeled as something.

I've been waiting for Mett for a month now, but as soon as I say he had more talent around him in college, I am all of a sudden a Locker guy.

Some of you guys need to reevaluate the steps you have taken in life.

no I am being serious, not trying to be funny.

If the subject of the thread are their college careers, then when you bring up the talent level when they were at college, you should not be met with what they have in the pros.

That is what makes a bad thread and discourages intelligent discussion.

You are saying the only reason Jake didn't have that great of numbers was because he had no talent at WR ... I'm just saying that point is over-rated. He has talent now and still has the same issues he had in college

Mett by far -- and also a ton of money was saved on the initial considering what round we plucked him out of...

We threw dollar signs at Jake and it did not pay off

So you can look at as a 'draft low, perform high" kind of a thing.

No Basically you are saying hypotheticals. You are implying that IF Jake had the same talent surrounding him as Mett in college that he would be as good.

It is just as dumb to base an argument in hypotheticals because we will never REALLY know if that is true or not.

If that REALLY were the case, and not just some made-up BS so we could be hopeful about Jake, then we could realistically assume that given better talent, that Jake would perform better. That was the school of thought when he was drafted. That is why the Titans invested so much into WRs (essentially 2 1st round picks. Wright in the 1st and we traded up to the top of the 2nd to get Hunter)

But it didn't work out. That is REAL evidence that our assumption was wrong.

You made a decent point about Jake having less talent in college as a POSSIBLE reason why he wasn't as good, but when it gets refuted with REAL evidence you just back pedal and say "but but I thought we were only talking about college"

So yes, that argument is over-rated.

Now if you want to say that Mett could be over-rated because of the talent he had around him, then fine. That has yet to be proven yet. If he fails in the NFL, maybe we can say that his supporting cast is what made him successful in college. But the jury is still out on Mett ... As far as Locker, the jury has spoken.

When we drafted Locker, everyone WANTED to believe that it was his surrounding cast that caused his issues.

"His accuracy will improve with better talent in the NFL" was a common theme.

But here he is, in the NFL with better talent ... and its about the same as what it was IN COLLEGE (see, there is a logical connection here).

Locker hasn't been terrible, IMO. A lot of the blame goes towards his inability to stay healthy. If he can't stay healthy he's never going to develope a rhythm with his cast or progress as a passer.

A lot of his flaws from college are still his downfall in the NFL. I feel if he could of just stayed healthy he could have improved as a passer and be a decent NFL QB.

Either way he was doomed when Whisenhunt was hired as a coach. I think Whisenhunt was looking for every excuse to bench Locker due to his style of play not fitting his scheme.
