Right, but that doesn't negate what I'm saying. If you pick #1, you get your choice of everyone (duh). It's objectively better than picking #2 or #3, especially in a draft class that appears to have one marquee QB (Mariota).

I'm not concluding that Mariota is a franchise savior. Far from it. But if he is, and the Titans don't have the #1 pick, they won't get him. And that would be a mistake.

Tanking makes all the sense in the world in a system with no draft lottery and a first-year head coach with job security. It would be dumb not to tank, in my opinion.

Tanking doesn't solve the problem of picking the wrong players because those problems are different things. It does, however, solve the issue of not being able to draft the guy you want most because you aren't picking first.

This is a lost season. Every action from here on out should be to set this team up for 2015 and beyond.

Regarding Tanking... and I'd like input from people that PAY to attend as well...

If the Titans truly decided to tank, and lets say we are just playing Mett and lots of younger guys that may have less talent just to see, and let's say we are up by 17 points with 8 minutes to go in the 4th quarter...

IF the Titans literally took a snap, turned around and just rolled the ball backwards and all Titans fled the ball so the opposing D could pick up the ball and just walk in for a score.... WOULD you be okay with that? And let's say they obviously allowed 3 scores so the other team would win... would you be okay with that?

When it became a headline story (because it would for sure) how would you feel about the coverage? Because you know 99% of former players/analysts even just random talk show hosts would talk about the blatancy of the throwing the game and tarnishing the game.

Just a question. I've always been of the opinion that it is better for morale and a learning experience to get wins even if the playoffs are out of the question. I imagine if a team did what I suggest above the NFL would quickly move to some type of draft lottery system.

McCoy looked better than any of our QB's, and could have been had for cheap. Granted he was against our pitiful defense, but he looked better than most first stringers we have faced this season. The problem with this team is talent acquisition. There is perennial hype around these wildcard pickups and drafts that they are the next big thing by fans that want to believe, but if you dig into these players stat history they are garbage. I'm beginning to think TN is the cull pile of the NFL. Our our scouting staff are just idiots........

If they tank the season, might as well cut the whole team or move it to another city. Competitors never throw in the towel till it's over, who wants a team full of quitters to watch or represent their city. Play hard and improve and build upon the strengths, and spend cap dollars more wisely than on long shots and has beens.

As a paying fan, I want to go to a game and see us compete and try to win. It isn't fun going to games and watching your team lose and it's not like Clowney or Luck is sitting there at #1 in which we must have the top pick. Last year when our season was over and we made a great comeback against the Cardinals but came up short, there were less than half of the fans still remaining however the energy that was produced and rallied around our team was awesome. No one wanted to lose and it was great to see our fans alive.

Agree. However, a great QB can turn a 4-5 year project into a 2-3 year project.

I think Hunter is legit with an actual QB throwing him the ball.

He is a 2nd year guy who has had very few accurate balls thrown his way by our bullpen of bull**** passers.

This would never happen. If it did go down like that, the NFL would fine the Titans and strip the team of draft picks.

Tanking never works like that in the NBA. You don't intentionally do things to lose. You simply play inexperienced players and backups in the name of getting them experience and the rest sorts itself out. Maybe you don't call that fake punt you know will work, but you never intentionally run the ball backwards or anything.

Teams have been successfully tanking in the NBA and NHL for years. It isn't that hard to do it and do it respectably.

Yes, I agree. It's often termed "the injury bug".

It's not that teams don't want to win, it's simply that winning at this moment isn't a priority that has the greatest benefit for the long term quality of the team. Evaluating a baseline of young talent and how that fits in to a new coach's scheme is the higher priority for long term success. Picking higher in a draft also provides more options to rebuild.

What baffles me is how Webster appears to get a pass for some REALLY bad drafts and FAs contracts.
