If you just went by talent and on field performance Winston would be your pick hands down. But who wants a rapist and low life as the face of your franchise?

I guess his rookie contract will bring enough cash so he can afford to pay for his groceries and soda.

As for Chance Warmack he has played well this year. I know because i watch him closely on almost every play. He was about the 50th best guard in the nfl last year and is about the 25th best this year. He will be an elite player at that position next year.

We will draft a QB it is just a matter of when. Whitehurst has played well enough that he could start the next couple of years. He's 32 but because he hasn't played much and taken hits over the years he's physically more like 27.

Next year we will have 3 guys in camp. Jesus, Mett and a draft pick. I'm all for drafting defense with 2 of our 3 top picks but we have to get a potentially viable QB.

I have a concern with Winston because of his off field issues, but it is deeper than just the moralistic issue. With the way the NFL is treating off field violent offenses now (and in the future IMO) Winston's problems will cost him serious playing time, making him nothing more than another Locker sidelined due to his own self inflicted "injuries". In that sense it is really a business and risk decision IMO.

I am not sure about Mariota. I have always been wary about system QBs, but have not watched him closely yet (Saturdays are my yard work days, at least for a couple more weeks). I will try to watch him closer as the season evolves (and the grass stops growing here).

I could see us going defense in the 1st round, then getting one of the other lower tier QBs in the 2-3rd rounds though. I would not be upset over getting Cook sometime in this timeframe.

If the Titans take a QB in the first, the chances Mett ever gets an opportunity is gone. If a second or third, then there might be an open competition in camp.

Its less about that and more about who we feel is best to be our quarterback.

I don't care about value, or hype, I want a guy who can play QB a full 16 weeks. If Mett isn't convincing the staff now, then I hope it is not because they just cannot see it, but we don't owe him anything.

I've been thinking about this ever since the 22 yard field goal that Washington hit against us to win the game. I think it is time to get Mettenberger on the field to see what we have. Let's hope that he pans out. If he does, we will be able to select an elite defensive player with our top 5 pick. If not, select Mariota.

I agree that if he didn't have the off field issues Jameis Winston would be the selection, but he does not seem mature at all. I worry that giving him a lot of money will go to his head and then the real problems will come to the surface.

With that said (and if Mettenberger is the answer) these are the players I would like us to look at:

    Shane Ray DE/OLB Missouri
    Dante Fowler Jr DE/OLB Florida

Trade down (out of top 5 to acquire additional picks):
    P.J. Williams CB Florida State
    Marcus Peters CB Washington
    Alvin Dupree DE/OLB Kentucky
    Hau'oli Kikaha DE/OLB Washington

    Late 1st round:
    Danny Shelton NT Washington
    Jordan Phillips NT Oklahoma

    For starters.

I think people are jumping on the gun on Blidi. Each week the kid has improved (lets not forget this is his second season. He did miss the tackle on against the Skins for the 70 yard touchdown which is inexcusable (Griffin is just as fault for not pushing him out of bounds).

Not to mention that this kid is a press corner and the NFL made it harder for him this year to have tight coverage.

I agree with the above post regardless if Mett is the answer or not. We still have to many holes to go after a 1st round QB when there is not sure fire studs to pick from. Build the defense, grab a 2nd round QB, let Mett and him fight for the job.

I have little faith that whoever they draft will be a playmaker for more than a couple years.

Blidi, can't locate the ball. He is like a quarterback that has all the tools to be good, but he isn't accurate (see Jake). Also, he is tight in his hips. So he will always have trouble with quicker wr's. You saw evidence of this against Pierre Garcon. He wasn't even in position to slow Garcon down.

Normally, I wouldn't argue giving a young player a chance to develop but enough is enough. We need better defensive players. I judge talent by asking myself, "if he was on another team would he start?" The only person on our defense that would start on another team, would be Casey. Hell, McCourty is our #1 cornerback, but on a good team he is no better than a #2.

Just letting off steam (forgive me).
