I agree with this. I really think that Locker wanted to have a good game today, so he went back "to his comfort zone" of running when in trouble. And it did help with his performance to be sure. The problem is that he puts himself out there to be hurt much more often with this style of play. However, when he was trying to stay away from this style of play he looked really bad (the whole happy feet/deer in headlights thing that happened in the Dallas and Cincy games.

McNair had a similar playing style, and had his issues with injuries as well. This may wind up being what Locker has to do, which means that he will look better during the short career that he will have as a starting QB in this league IMO.

At this point my biggest concern with starting Mett is with the condition of his knee. Wasn't that injury pretty late last season?

If we really want to evaluate him as our QB of the future, I would be hesitant to put him in before that knee is full strength, or at least close to it.

Indeed. I was blitzed about 10 minutes after the game. Time for another.

The irony today is that Locker got hurt on a play where he was standing up in the pocket as the defender was trying to go super-hi on him. For the running plays, he ended one on a slide, one on the TD (and then cheap shot by the defense) and two others we lowered his head and fought for the 1st down.

He does do the McNair style of play which is why I guess we're used to it here. The difference is that McNair was a bigger guy...almost fullback material. Defenders actually didn't like getting hit by him. McNair had more than his share of injuries but they were mostly stuff they he managed to play through (although to this day I'll never understand how he managed with the bruised sternum). Locker's shoulder and foot problems were season enders. McNair wouldn't practice all week recovering and someone manage to show up and play well on Sunday anyway.
