In order of importance, list what it takes to become a good QB in the NFL. For far too long its seemed the Titans have been trying to replace Steve McNair with some other mobile QB, but mobility is far down the list in my opinion of tools needed to succeed at QB in todays NFL.

Here's my attempt at what it takes.

    1.) Availability
    2.) Leader
    3.) Student of the game
    4.) Vision
    5.) Consistency
    6.) Pocket awareness
    7.) Arm strength
    8.) Accuracy
    9.) Size
    10.) Speed

    Your thoughts...?

Those are rather vague, like what would be in a Hallmark card for QB birthdays. Expound on them a little.
I can agree with #4; I've seen very few QBs wearing glasses.

    Ha-ha

But ok lets explain the skills better.

1.) Availability (can't be counted on if youre hurt every other week, dont allow yourself to get hit alot)
2.) Leader (competitor, first in last out, players want to play for you)
3.) Student of the game (knows where eveyone should be, knows all the plays top to bottom)
4.) Vision (see's things before theyre there)
5.) Consistency (know what youre going to get from them day in day out)
6.) Pocket awareness (climbs the pocket, mobile within the pocket)
    7.) Arm strength
    8.) Accuracy
    9.) Size
    10.) Speed

I'm not going to make a list but I will say that I think basic fundamentals and mechanics should be a priority. This has not been the case in our last two attempts at landing a franchise QB and look where that's got us.

When drafting a PASSER make sure the player excels at PASSING. Everything else is secondary.

Add "Confidence" in there something "Hurt Locker" is missing right now, the mental portion goes along way.

    Fundamentals (accuracy, mechanics, pocket awareness)
    Student of the game
    Leadership

Obviously they need to be consistent and durable. But those are graded on a different scale than the main areas. It's not a simple drop down list of 1-10 that makes a good QB.

The QB must first possess the ability to put the ball where he wants it. All the sub categories can start here. The mechanics of playing within a pocket, drops, ball handling are prerequisites IMO.

The QBs that can do this can be starters.

The next thing you need after talent is the ability and WANT to know everything in and out. Being a true student of the game. Understanding the play book. Being able to adapt and learn on the fly. Make adjustments and read defenses as well as using your eyes to hold safeties and defenders away from where you want to go with the ball.

    These QBs can win games

Then you need the personality that incites the locker room. The leader. The person who has all the answers. Pushes his teammates and raises the level of ownership in that team. All of these things put together that forces the team to buy in.

    These QBs can win championships.
