What I see happening is CBJ doesn't feel pressure very well and it leads to him taking a beating. That was noticeable when he played in the preseason. I'll call that CBJ leaves the game with an injury and Mett comes in to finish the game, but the only way that happens is if CBJ is the starter, which they will definitely activate Mett for backup.

I'd expect a lot of runs and dink/dunks, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Indy has no pass rush so screens would be effective too.

I just wonder why though, this guy is not your future QB. If Met is healthy, why not let him learn and take his lumps?

Would be more excited to see Mettenberger but I think Whitehurst will do enough to at least keep it competitive. If anything, we just get a little more consistency from the position.

Unless he can resurrect himself from the bottom end of mediocrity I expect a loss.

Frankly I think we would have a better chance letting Mett come out and toss 20 deep balls this game. Hell, if they think Locker is going to start, they might not even play defense past 15 yards.

I would clap, cheer and gladly take a loss. Knowing at least we tried something besides going with the sure defeat starting Locker

I know this is minutia, but to me, the opposite is true. If a team has a good pass rush, screens are more effective against them, because they are more likely to overpursue the QB. If all of the blitzers are still near the LOS, they're more likely to stop the screens than a defender right by the QB.

But once again, just minutia. not important.

Jake Locker (wrist) remained out of Titans practice Thursday, but "did a bit more."

Speaking afterward, coach Ken Whisenhunt said he's concerned about Locker suffering a setback against the Colts, and that his status will likely be determined on Sunday. Translation: He's not going to play. That leaves Checkdown Charlie Whitehurst as the Titans' starter for Week 4. It's a significant downgrade for the Titans' entire offense, though Whitehurst can be counted on to pepper chain movers Kendall Wright and Delanie Walker with targets.
