Verner was playing well before the Bucs **** themselves.

He would have done fine here.

Some billioniaires may care about winning, but others may care about simply "Playing". Either way, they make money from the teams, though they don't rely on hte teams for their fortunes. Some may think that they can "win", like Jerry Jones, and buy a team just to play. But others may think "as long as the team makes money, I'm good!". Again, only 1 team a year wins the Super Bowl, but all the teams are profitable (though admittedly, some are more profitable tahn others).

Verner was only really good for one year with us, a contract year. He was ass hurt because Jerry Gray made him compete for his spot against a corner that should not have been on the field (Tommie Campbell). Verner admitted in an interview that this IS the reason he left. He even said the Titans offered him a slightly higher contract, but he felt disrespected by Gray. THIS is the fact. Verner chose to walk away from the team you CLAIM to support. This team is not perfect not by a long shot. However, the biggest issue is at QB. If you really want to ***** about something QB is where you should start.

So Verner was sticking it to the Titans by leaving? Because Jerry Gray was out well before Verner was offered an extension. If he felt disrespected by an open competition the summer before, well tough sh1t, that's how it goes.

I'm not calling you a liar by any means but this is the first I've heard of any of this. If true, then Verner is not nearly as smart as I thought he was. Did he not realize that Gray was fired already?

EDIT: JCB beat me to it.

We choose to spend our money on the offensive line. It has to be one of the most expensive in the league and I just do not see where it is paying off. Not saying we should have paid verner but I am saying we should have brought some fa corners in.

Many on here are focusing on Verner like he was the missing piece to a championship. I am not saying that. I used Verner's situation to indicate how the calculus changes for small market teams concerning free agency. When you don't scout and draft well, a small market team can't afford to bargain hunt for FA talent. It seems as though Verner was let go primarily because of his asking price. I'm saying that the D would be better this year with him, but of course Locker's play is probably a bigger concern and contributing factor to the bad performances of the team the last two games.

Going forward, the front office must understand that you may have to overpay for some talent in order to remain competitive. One of the biggest concerns I had with the CJ trade was that there was no one on the team that other teams had to "game plan" for . There were no playmakers on either side of the ball for the Titans (Casey is arguably an elite player, but he is the only one, and he maybe in the wrong scheme considering what he does). In order to remain competitive, overpaying for some FA talent maybe the life line of this franchise. You have to be willing to do it, especially being a small market team that doesn’t draft or scout well. Consider the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies overpaid for Rudy Gay and Zach Randolph, making them almost untradeable (NBA has guaranteed contracts). But, what was the alternative let them walk for nothing? The Grizz have made the playoffs the last 4 years and even the conference finals in 2013. A small market team that is competitive, though they have overpaid for the talent they have. Is it a sustainable model? Not over the long haul, but attendance and civic pride is up all around Memphis because of the fortunes of the Grizzlies. The Titans need to take notice.

I never understood why our d has wwimbley and Morgan are playing lib....when I play madden I go to and put 3-4 like this wimbley Casey and Morgan at d-line....Phillips Brown Woodward and one more at lb....we have signed linebackers and have to much talent in that position at linebacker....and you know who secondary players are,the normal....
