Can't trust these players with nothing

 

This **** has turned into the mid 2000's NBA.

 

This is pretty much what I thought as well. Like alot of the older folks on here, I was spanked as a kid quite a bit (and pretty much deserved it when it happened). The "extreme" punishment for me was the belt, which I got a handful of times growing up. I had a few cousins who received the switch treatment from time to time.

However, when I got the hand or the belt it was always controlled from my parents. I can never remember being chased by them (the words "come here" are still seared in my memory), and I never remember being hit anywhere but on the backside (occasionally missed high or low, but never front, hands, scrotum, etc.). I really do not remember my parents yelling at me while they were spanking me....point is that it was meant to teach me a lesson, not vent their own anger at me IMO.

When reading about this, and seeing the wounds, it appears to me that AP lost his temper and was out of control when he did this. That is not acceptable.

Also, I am hearing that the Vikings are sitting AP out this weekend....kudos to them, and I wish that the Panthers (google the Panther owner Richardson video where he is crying about domestic violence yet continuing to play Greg Hardy) would have a similar response here.

I almost never got spanked. The last time my mom tried it, I was already bigger than her probably in elementary school. I laughed. That made her even angrier. But still, no more attempted spankings.

 

I hate how they (ESPN, or the media in general) is turning AP into some monster. Yes, what he did was wrong. I personally have no problem with spanking a child, that's how I was raised. Got whooped all the time, but nothing like this. He took it too far, but that's how AP was raised (actually raised alot worse than that). Regardless, he doesn't seem to get what he did - but has been fully cooperative and I seriously doubt he meant to hurt his child. Yet, suddenly it seems Ray Rice and Hardy stories are on the backburner now? Seriously Ray Rice spit and KO'd his wife and Hardy killed a chick... personally I think those are much worse than what AP did. Again, not saying what AP did was right.

 

I remember moving into a new house (for us) as a child, and it had this beautiful bush by the back porch. By the time we moved, the bush was bare because so many switches were used on my behind! My mother was just repeating how she was raised. I never used a switch on any of my children. I just used my hand on their behind, and only had to do that just a few times.

I had whelps on my legs at times that would have been enough to convict my mother for child abuse. I deserved each spanking, but I'm not sure it needed to be to the extent it was.

Anyway, I turned out Ok.........I guess!

 

It is.

AP went overboard. Ray Rice situation was awful.

But there are soo many worse things going on in the world regarding treatment of children and women and just human beings in general.

I watch the NFL for entertainment/escapism/enjoyment. So having the top headlines the first two weeks be all about off the field abuse type incidents is a real bummer.

 

My mom used to make me pick the switch she was going to whoop me with. I always tried to fool her with the milk weed but she would always go with the limb that was elastic, almost plastic like. Dad brought on the 1/4" leather belt. I don't think kids and teens today know what a good ass whoopin is.

 

Which might help explain why we have so many entitled pu**ies running around today.

Not condoning what AP did. It looks like he took it too far. Especially considering the kid is 4. But I'm just saying in general I think kids get off too light these days. The way I see kids acting out in public on a daily basis while the parents do nothing, I just shake my head and think how I would've got slapped for a lot less.
