Michigan State and OSU can't play all the crappy teams the season is too short so sometimes someone else has to play them.

 

Teams in the SEC already play in by far the toughest conference. So why would they schedule a terribly tough OOC schedule? I do agree 2-3 cupcakes is a bit excessive but sometimes it's easier just to slide some cash to a small school instead of having to negotiate with schools in the power 5 conferences.

Now let's take the B1G. They have to prove themselves, the SEC doesn't. They need to schedule tougher OOC games. Do they? Not really. Their in conference schedule sometimes isn't enough to carry them through the polls. Unfortunately (well just for fans in the B1G) they didn't prove themselves. Ohio St is done. Michigan St still has a slight chance. Michigan is done. They had to reinstate Penn State just so they could have another shot.

Now back to the SEC. They have Alabama who is a traditional power. Very young team but improving every week. Auburn who made the championship last season and hasn't skipped a beat. A&M who may be even better on offense this season with Kenny Hill at QB and already an impressive win at South Carolina (the 2nd most impressive win after Oregon last week). Georgia who steam rolled Clemson led by the best back in the nation. Then of course LSU who is a lot like Bama in the whole talent but not a lot of experience aspect. They will only continue to get better and have already beaten Wisconsin. That's 5 potential national title contenders with LSU on the line. B1G only has one left, who had to be reinstated.
