Ray Rice cut/suspended indefinitely

I believe Goodell and the league didn't see this video before or during their investigation.

That said, after seeing this Rice needs to be sat down for a long time.

He would have gotten a harsher penalty for swinging at another player during a game.

 

An interesting twist to this (as of this morning in the article under the video on the TMZ site) is that the source of the video is claiming that the NFL saw this at the same time as the video seen several weeks ago. I am not sure I believe this, but if it is true it may explain Goodell's "mea culpa" from last week (perhaps realizing that he could not keep it suppressed any longer). That said, I really hope that this is not true and that the NFL office learned about this as we did.

Prefacing that this is nitpicking and that I do not think it should have any bearing at all on what happens to Rice now that it has been confirmed that the woman was knocked out because of his actions, when I look at the video it looks like she was knocked out by the handrail on her way down. She hit that thing pretty hard.

I think that Goodell has no choice but to suspend Rice for the season at this point. I also think that it is the right thing to do. To leave this stand would make for an ugly season, both in Baltimore and across the country IMO. In addition it is my opinion that this type of activity is and should be unacceptable regardless of one's station in life.

What you are saying is logical....I really hope that you are wrong though. If that comes out it is going to get real ugly, and it should IMO.

 

The video makes it seem like a worse situation. But the fact is that he and this woman have worked it out and are now married. I'm sure Rice stated his case to Goodell that they've gone to counseling/therapy and are now married. That this is just an isolated matter of both of them getting too drunk and acting out of character.

There is no way that Goodell did not see this video. The only reason he even suspended him those 2 games is because of the big stink this has created.

You can say that it is never ok to put your hands on a woman, BUT she slapped him in the face in the video before they got into the elevator. Again in no way is it fair for a jacked up NFL player to lay out a petite woman but to say that she didn't take it there isn't exactly fair either.

That said, he knocked her cold out and could have killed her. If the cops didn't do anything to him then neither should the NFL.
