Considering we already signed Durham, Graham and Harris, we have upgraded our WR and CB depth. However, I would bring in Kelvin Sheppard, Vickerson, McFadden, Sam and any other OLB who can rush the passer (especially a young guy like Sam).

Do not really get the interest in Vikerson or Sam.

Vickerson is worse and older than every defensive lineman we have.

We are not great at OLB but the guys we have are all a lot better than Michael Sam. While Sam does have some potential to stick around the NFL a bit he is not going to be a world beater. And is not in a position to help a team this season. If you see Michael Sam on the field this year you know that team is in deep trouble at DE/OLB.

    Don't knock Sam.

Finding guys is what he does.

    (Just one tiny little...I promise.)

The reality is we havent game planned anyone to be fair, but we havent seen much pressure from our LB's...especially our OLB's. ALL 3-4 d's get most of their pressure from an OLB. We don't have that. We do have Casey and Klug who might be our 2 best pass rushers and consistently beat 1v1 matchups. Adding another quick DL in Vickerson could be important to keep Casey fresh. Having 3 DL who could generate a good pass rush would be nice to have.

Which OLB has shown he's going to be a double digit sack guy this year? Based on the little we've seen in pre-season, the answer is no one. I certainly HOPE Morgan does what I think he can do, but I've been disappointed in what I've seen so far. Is Sam the answer? Probably not for this year, but Phillips hasn't shown much yet, Ayers hasn't shown anything against 1's and Wembley hasn't exactly been a force on the other side. Since Phillips is fairly old, Wembley is expensive, Ayers hasn't done anything yet, it might be nice to start stocking up on pass rushing OLB's. Afterall, this is how the Steelers used to do it in their hey day!

Plus, I said bring them in...as in for a workout and see what they can do. Not just sign them out of the blue. Might also light a little fire under some of the guys who made it past the cut down to 53.

In this instance which DL would Vickerson replace on the roster? And if you want a good pass rusher then why would you want Vickerson? In four years with the Broncos he has five sacks total.

Honestly he could use the gay thing and homophobia to his advantage. Start flirting with the offensive lineman he is lined up across from. Wink at him and check him out. Could knock the OL off his game. Draw him into some stupid mistakes or penalties.

I can't answer the question of who he'd replace because I don't even know if he's worth having on the roster. He's always been a quick DT, but not sure if he still has the same quickness after his recent injuries, but worth a look. And while everyone and his grandmother looks at sacks as a measure or a pass rushers effectiveness, a guy who can push up the middle and get pressure is also valueable...even if he doesn't get a sack. QB's under pressure don't perform nearly as well as a QB who can sit back and eat a sandwich while he scans the field.

BTW, Stephen Hill may have had a tough time with the last 2 regimes (offenses) and QB's throwing the ball, but by all accounts from the Jets, he can't run routes and has bad hands and may not always be a high effort player. If a team like the Jets gives up on a 2nd rnd pick at a position of need in 2 years...there is a big problem there. Course, maybe that problem is the JETS!!!

Dmitri Patterson aslo went AWOL on the Jets for 2 days (missing a preseason game ta boot) so you knew he was toast. Then he said he didn't go awol like the Jets said and he said his agent told the Jets before he missed the game. Not good!

Michael Sam would probably be the best DE we've had in a long time.

    Pass rushing, at least.

That position has been a weakness for a while.

    Lol, YES!

I was thinking earlier his sack celebration should be Z-snaps, then rest on protruding hip with a finger wag followed by a delayed head shake. It would be legendary.
