I see it just the other way. Goodell knows that the way things stand right now there is a 5 minute gap of boredom in the game. After the TD you have a commercial...after the PAT a commercial...after the kickoff (which is boring now because of the new rule)...commercial. At the games right after a team scores I head directly for the bathroom, grab a beer, and make it back to my seats without missing a meaningful play because the PAT and KO are so routine. In the current system the odds are not in your favor to go for 2 because the odds of making it are less than twice the chances of making the PAT. However under the new system the odds work out just about right.

So the change would put more strategy into the game. I could see an aggressive coach deciding to go for it every time to put more pressure on the other team.

I would go for 2 every time regardless.

This. The PAT is a gimmie, it's why it's only worth 1. I'm not a fan of moving it back. Plus, it rarely happens but what if a team decides to do a fake fg? Or a botched snap that needs to be ran in? Now they have to do it from the 25, that's a huge change.
