Mettenberger is a sixth round pick. He has no potential to be the guy. Prototypical size, arm strength and played at a big-time program. Still the tenth QB drafted in his class.

    "But Tom Brady!"

I have no problem with the CW signing I think it makes sense from a money standpoint and the fact he has a good understanding of the offense that he can pass on to the others. I just hope Whiz realizes this guy is a perennial backup and is 31 years old. He isn't the long term answer. Why not play the guy that could potentially be the long term answer. If not we are prolonging the inevitable. Maybe he thinks he can make Charlie into a Kurt Warner or Josh McCown or something IDK.

Maybe whiz sees we are a good team and with good quarterback play we can get back to the playoffs this year so hed rather go with jake or a guy he trusts than a 6th round rookie

Obviously we are rolling with Jake I'm talking about if Jake gets injured which is highly plausible. I'm gonna be holding my breathe every time he takes a shot.

As bad as it sounds lets say Jake gets hurt week 8. Were 5-3/6-2 and then Charlie comes in and we go 10-6 or 9-7 and make a wildcard spot. Great but its highly unlikely we make any noise in the playoffs with Whitehurst. Now were picking 20 something, not resigning Jake and have Charlie who we know isn't the answer and Mett who well its a slim chance but he could be however we just don't know cause he never got PT. We aren't going to get a top QB prospect at that draft slot and the endless search for a franchise QB continues.

yea but I doubt the titans would have drafted the Titans if they didn't see some potential bright spot in him... I mean I watched some Metts in college "A&M fan" and I have to say he looked better than Bortles throwing wise its obvious he fell due to injury... but I just have a feeling that Whitehurst is gonna be the man to watch this season if locker gets hurt or doesn't produce...

Depends on when the injury occurs. Week four? I go with the vet. Week 10 and we're not in contention? Sure, go with Mettenberger.

    We're ****ed either way.

Ya thats what im sayin hes goin w jake but if jake cant play hed rather go w a guy he trusts. Wasnt whitehurst one of the guys beat out by russell wilson? Didnt he go to seattle to be the starter that year? Or am i trippin

He may have fallen a little because of his injury, but he's one of the most immobile QBs I've ever seen, torn ACL or not. I doubt it affects his game at all. I mean, he had a pro day in April.

Fair enough point and I think he was in competition with Flynn.

Was just playing devils advocate. I'm programmed to think this way as a Titans fan. We don't suck enough to pick at the top and we don't do well enough to make the playoffs. It's almost worse than completely sucking.
