Yeah no doubt it lit a fire but Caldwell was no better, in fact worse. If you look at the stats it was run, run, pass, punt. Thankfully some of those 3rd down bombs were caught and the rest is history.

Cameron is a great coach to teach the QB. He has a history of controlling the scheme very much in favor of helping a young talent and being that rock... However... Once those same QBs get under another OC, that opens it up, they primarily look even better.

Hes kind of a good to great stepping stone.

I think what stands between us is the idea that this is about Carr. I can totally agree with you that if they REALLY wanted Carr bad and thought he was a franchise savior they would have taken him at 11 or moved up to get him in the second no matter what it cost.

Now that this is behind us, my main point is that the fact that they were even contemplating doing any of this tells us that they are NOT 100% sold on Locker. Do you think that there would ever be reports that Green Bay, Denver, or New Orleans were hoping to take a QB in the second round to compete with Rodgers, Manning, or Brees? No you wouldn't. Know why? Because those guys are "the guy" to their respective organizations. If you are not the guy your ass is on the line because teams are looking for "the guy" not just a guy . Unfortunately Jake falls in the latter category and every move our franchise has made recently reflects that.

I don't think they saw Carr as a hall of famer but rather as a guy who was good enough to unseat their incumbent. A guy can be better than Locker but not be a once in a lifetime prospect. Much like people enjoyed saying CJ's production could be replaced by a rookie, I feel Locker's production could not only be replaced by said rookie but outdone. Many of this year's prospects are much further along in their development as QB's than Locker was at this point, Mett included. Again this isn't about how great these guys are but rather just how retarded Locker's progression has been.

I could see Mett doing well in the NFL if he gets healthy, good protection, and works at it. He is walking into a good situation in that he doesn't have a ton of pressure, and nobody in front of him that he can't beat eventually in his mind. Big body, big school experience/competition, and more accurate than Jake at this point....Crazy that he is a 6th and Jake was a 1, and some of us feel he can surpass Jake....I'm pulling for you Jake, but you better fix it up, and fast!

Sarcasm works best when you have established yourself as someone that generally makes reasonable statements.

    Alas...
