Kerry Collins played well enough to win a superbowl with a good team around him (though he never did). That's all I expect from a starting QB. Of course I'd prefer my QB to be a star who can put the team on his back but this isn't necessary.

Kerry Collins played horribly in his one Super Bowl appearance. That said, he played pretty damn well in that divisional game against the Ravens as a Titan. His teammates let him down in epic fashion that night. Lendale and Crumpler (along with dirty savages who were so scared of CJ, they tried to rip his foot off + the officials not calling delay of game on the Ravens on the infamous 3rd and 17 play with under a minute left in the game!) caused the best team in the NFL to lose their first playoff game. Kerry had just lit up the Steelers (who would have been our next opponent in AFC title game) a few weeks earlier in the most important regular season game in the AFC that year. (was literally for home field advantage) Kerry Collins could absolutely have won the Super Bowl that season. He was awful after that though. Damn you Crumpler!

6th round with possible 2nd round upside is great. Rarely do you see those types slide. Frankly, if he never becomes anything, we didn't waste much. And if he surprises, amazing.

Exactly. The crazy thing is, he has the tools necessary to make it amazing. There have been QB's that had them as well and failed miserably in the NFL, but just to think we got a guy who does in the 6th freakin round is pretty nice.

    .

Yup. Can't complain. Just wait and see what happens. I'm not gonna sit here and guarantee anything. And he won't hurt my feels if he sucks.

Why risk any pick if it is such a long shot? Bring on three or four udfa's to see if one lights it up? I think mett was brought in to beat out Whitehurst. Whitehurst is a bet hedger. They expect jake to start. White will help teach the O, but will only be#2 for a short period or not after season starts depending on how fast mett picks it up. Mett stays.

6th round (And later) is for longshots. Sometimes they work out. Like McCourty and Finnegan. Usually they do not.

What starters are common 6th and 7ths????

People need to understand those rounds are recognized as nothing more than upside UDFA picks.

Right. You're still ignoring this particular situation. How often are these 6th and 7th's rated in most draft experts top 40 players in the draft? To say this is a typical 6th round pick situation is ridiculous. It's most certainly a very unique situation for a 6th.

That the guy slipped? So what. No risk. What's your point
