Webster might be telling the truth or it could be smoke screen to try and prevent a team from jumping in front of us. I'm pretty sure I remember him saying in one of the pre-draft press conferences that he would think that we would take a QB to bring competition to the position

 

We need a QB.

Not only could Locker get hurt again but he might also be absolute underwhelming if he actually played an entire season.

Draft a QB for insurance.

I hate saying/thinking this, but not drafting a QB would give me the impression that we want/expect a high pick next year. I would be pretty upset at that, not drafting one would send the wrong message, not one I think the front office can afford.

 

If Webster is smart enough to take Murray in the fourth, I can forgive him for taking "Hideyakids" Lewan last night. Murray would be a godsend in the fourth.

 

It will be interesting to keep an eye on a few of the guys that we brought in for pre-draft visits.

Shaquille Barrett is a rush OLber who was the MWC co-DPOY. He had 12 sacks and 20 TFL this year.

Avery Williamson would certainly bring competition to the ILB spot.

Charles Sawyer is another interesting prospect. CB from Ole Miss who didn't play that much this year because of a shoulder injury. Would make a really nice guy to play the NB position. Quick guy who isn't afraid to tackle. Also played some FS at Ole Miss. Reminds me of Finnegan.

I really like James Gayle from Va Tech as another possible rush OLBer. He had a quick 1.60 10 yd split at the combine and the rest of his numbers were very similar to Clowney.

 

Or it could mean that we really, really think that Locker is going to be our franchise guy....but if we are wrong then we most likely will be drafting high and we will go and get our next franchise QB.

I can honestly see it both ways.

If we do take a QB then that gives us a better chance of finding our franchise guy for next yr because we have 2 guys going into this yr who could possibly be the guy. But if we really don't think any of these guys are franchise guys then why waste the pick on them. Stick with Locker, Wilson, and Whitehurst.
