2014 NFL Draft: Pick #11 - OT Taylor Lewan

I'm usually really supportive of our draft selections. Warmack I was against but managed to be supportive, Wright confused me at first but after my initial reaction I got really excited about him, etc etc. but this? I've never been as disappointed/upset/angry over our 1st round pick like I was tonight.

1. I understand Roos has one more year left on his deal but in no way are we in a position to use our 1st round pick on a guy that's going to be sitting for a season, we're not in a position to draft this way. The QB position, I understand, but not this. All this pick says to me is we're not going to compete this year, we're going to figure out Locker, go through the growing pains of switching defenses, and hopefully we'll have another top pick to grab a skill/QB guy next year.

2. Lewan, is not a guy I can root for. I thought we drafted high character guys? This guy is worse than Pac Man coming out of the draft.

Okay, I'm done posting for the night. Time to hopefully sleep this off and maybe tomorrow night we'll draft someone everyone can get behind.

I find it very humorous how people totally forget about BPA. Pete Prisco in his analysis gives us a C- for the pick because he just doesn't see the need. But in his mock he has Lewan going before our pick at #9. As do the other 2 CBS analysts who have him going at #6. All the analysts have us taking Barr. Can't Prisco see that Barr wasn't available and that we took the highest rated guy who gives us great depth for this year and will move into the starting role next year.

BPA is the way to build a team.

That's a good problem to have.

If both Warmack and Lewan work out they're going to be playing for pennies together for four years. Add Schwenke to the mix for another two.
