Munch just didn't know what to do, or how to do it, besides standing on the sideline and shrugging. He was one of those workers who's just there for the paycheck, and doing as little as possible to improve the situation.

That''s my assessment of him anyhow, he seemed so minimalist, and not emotional at all, You don't get much results when your coach doesn't jump your ass when you screw up.

But i know the apathy was franchise wide by the third season, because it really shone through with CJ, and an O lineman or two. The defense, not so much, they at least tried to do their part, and succeeded, at least until the offense took the field and gave the ball back, causing them to go back out and get worn the hell out.

Munch was just plain bad, he wasn't terrible, just bad. That 9-7 season was a joke though, not because we did okay, but because we got shafted out of the playoffs by Tebow mania, and an 8-8 broncos team. The football knowledge part of my brain started to convulse that day, because 8-8 teams shouldn't go to the playoffs over a 9-7 team, damn it!!!!

We didn't deserve to make the playoffs though.

We lost to the Jags on the season opener, the 0-13 Colts, and almost lost to the Texans against their second and third stringers.

If we had made it in, we would've played the Texans and lost. And that's worse than missing the playoffs.

Munch had no idea of game adjustments. And when your head coach has to help his buddy coach the OL, he got less time to do the things he needs to do, if he knew what to do. Was a bad 3 years . But IT's OVER!!

I completely agree with the first sentence but completely disagree with the second. I do not believe he wasn't trying or was just collecting a paycheck. He was just SO in over his head that he didn't know how, when, or where to steer the ship. Munchak's failure was all about incompetence and being unqualified, not lack of effort or dedication.

How was he terrible, since you're saying "disregard the record"?

Truth is, the only way you half-assed analytical fans are claiming the guy was terrible was due to his record.

    So which is it?...

"Terrible" coaches don't almost go to the playoffs (and coaching was more than enough to've reached the playoffs) with Ryan Fitzpatrick, CJ2YPC, and a mediocre defense.

But I'm being logical instead of a "fan"... forgive me.

He was definitely trying, he made more roster moves in 2 seasons than I think Jeff Fisher ever has his whole life, Munchak tried his ass off, he was just in over his head.

Munchak was a great offensive line coach and we should have kept him on if he would have been willing to take his old job back.

Now that you mention that, yeah, we didn't deserve it. I've been mentally shutting out some of the worst moments from back then, But I do remember the season opener, ugh. Bad times, all around.

Yeah, you're so logical. Admit it, you're all about being the contrarian. If the majority of the fanbase thought Munch was a great coach you'd be here posting all about how awful he is.

Anyway, to answer your question.... I never said to completely "disregard the record". His record is obviously a significant part of the equation. I was just saying there are other factors than just record. What made him terrible, you ask? Oh, let's see:

    - Speaking of records, what was he like 2-20 against winning teams?
    - Couldn't win in his division.
    - Put together a terrible and incompetent staff, and never managed to fix it in 3 seasons.
    - Awful gameplanning.
    - Awful in-game decision-making/couldn't win a challenge to save his life. "WTF is an adjustment???"
    - Lost to the worst team in the league each and every year he was coach (including two winless teams).
    - Put personal relationships ahead of what was best for the team.

Face it, Munchak was not a good HC and was clearly in over his head. Whether he was "not good", "bad", "awful", "terrible", etc. is just semantics. Anyway, I've laid out my views on Munch plenty over the past year or so and he's long gone now. So I'm not going to keep going around in circles about it.

LOL and the flipping HC bears no responsibility for any of that? Please.

I do find it funny that still, STILL no one can say anything positive about what he did without a "yeah but" in there somewhere. "Yeah but he was a late hire", "Yeah but the lockout", "Yeah but Locker got injured", "Yeah but CJ sucked", "Yeah but the defense sucked". Titan Fan Excuse Train full-steam ahead!!!

LOL that you think you're the one being logical.
