I'm impressed that this board agrees he's not a HOFer. I started following the Titans when they moved to Tennessee and loved to watch McNair and George. The year he won Co-MVP with Peyton, I didn't think he deserved that either. McNair was a warrior, but not an elite QB defining the era.

You sir, can kiss my ass! Without the Oilers, there are no Titans. Its not debatable. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find any so called "Titan" that is a hall of famer. Do not disrespect those that have been there from the Oiler days. Don't go there!

Wrong! You didn't "come" from the Oilers, its the same damn franchise. A name change doesn't change the history.

May as well admit it.. the Titans mean very little to the people in Houston, and consider the Oilers dead.. and people in TN don't care at all about the Houston Oilers.

The Ravens are literally the same franchise as the old Browns. Just because they made a new "Browns" franchise does not change the fact that the Ravens ARE the Browns. They evolved from the browns much more than the new team.
Are the Ravens fans supposed to care about the Browns, pre- Baltimore? I know that the new franchise "kept" the history, but it is the same franchise in reality.

Do the Indy Colts care about Baltimore? Does Baltimore care about the Colts? They only hate the new colts.

The Tennessee Titans and Houston Oilers are clearly forever linked. But to me, and many other fans the history of "our" franchise began the day the team moved to TN. That's no disrespect to Houston or the Oilers. I just prefer the Titans be viewed and judged on their own merit rather than constantly being compared to 30+ years of Houston Oiler history.

When I think of "great Titan QBs" the list begins and ends with McNair. I realize Moon was better but he wasn't a Titan. When I think of "great Titan RBs" the list begins with George and ends with CJ (circa 2009). I respect the hell out of Earl. But again, he has nothing to do with the Tennessee Titans. And actually he claims the Texans over the Titans. So clearly he does not consider the Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans one and the same either.

Yep. Moon and Campbell are not fans of the Titans. They wouldn't pee on this franchise if it were on fire. Moon probably looks more fondly on the Seahawks.

Just about the only Oilers that like the Titans are the ones that were kept in as staff or players when Bud made the move.. ala Munchak and Bruce.

It may as well be official that the death of Adams, and the last remnants of the old Oiler contingent, is just about the death of the Oilers link to the Titans. There is almost no resemblance between the two, anymore.
Adams was the one that insisted in keeping that tradition alive. I doubt Webster, Smith, Whisenhunt, etc. give a crap about that. They're trying to make their own legacy, while Bud wanted to keep an old tradition alive, in a completely different part of the US, with almost entirely different fans.

The Oilers are a dead franchise, just as much as the old Browns and the Baltimore Colts are a dead franchise. They only live vicariously through a different team, who doesn't give a hoot about the old times.

They survive in the same way my great, great grandfather survives, who I never met.

With the passing of Bud, I don't think Titans fans would really cry a river if they sold the Oilers rights back to Houston. Houston is the only city to care about the Oilers.

If the Titans or Predators ever moved far away, I would wish only the worst for them, and would root against them at any chance I got. I wouldn't say "There are my preds!!"

I did find it funny that people were wearing Atlanta Thrashers gear to the Preds vs. Jets game this year, I went to.

Study the numbers and you can see how Steve Mcnair should not be considered a hof QB.

Only 23 QBs in the hall of fame for a period of over 70 years. That means that in each decade or so 2-3 QBs are considered elite enough to make it. Emphasis on the word elite. Was Mcnair elite? Yeah for one year.

Who were the best Qbs in Mcnair's era? From 95-04 when he played?

Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady. Mcnair is obviously not in their league. He's also not in league with the top Qbs who played most of their careers before him like Elway and Marino or other elite QBs today like Brees and Rogers.

You have guys in the hall who never won a title but put up monster career numbers. Tarkington, Moon, Marino. You have guys who didn't put up monster numbers but won championships like Bradshaw, Staubach, Aikman and Griese. Mcnair doesn't fit into either category.

There are QBs you might take issue with who are in the hall. I don't think Sonny Jerguson belongs and despite his 2 super bowls i'm not sure Griese was that caliber player either. Jim kelley wasn't a slam dunk either but he probably did deserve it.

In short mcnair was not good enough for long enough to be considered.
