VY showed tremendous potential in his rookie season. More than most rookie QBs do... so that's not really fair.

Locker actually showed a lot of potential in his rookie season too. After watching him against the Falcons and Saints I really thought the dude was gonna be the answer for us. Little did I know he was incapable of starting more than 4 games at a time without getting hurt.

I can't hate on Jake though. He's given it everything he has and is not an immature baby. He has one more shot. I'll be pulling for him. But I'm also scared if he was to have a great season and not get hurt that we'd sign him to a long term deal only for him to be injured all the time again.

    I will say this.....

Locker has a better chance of putting together a complete 16 game season than Young ever did of being a leader, and that is why one is still in the league.

Locker will be out of the league by this time next year so. This guy can't be a back up cause then you have to worry who your 3rd string qb is. At least Vince stayed on the field for more than 4 games at a time! Vince was also fun to watch, I always had hope he could win the game where as locker is I am just hoping he stays on the field lol.

This is what could give me potential nightmares as well. If we give this guy a long term deal, except our playoff drought to continue!

I think we could have gone after McCown or signed sanchez and we would have been in a much better situation with our qb than right now currently.

This draft has more than just 2 potential franchise qb's in it and I would prefer Bortles over anyone even though I know we would never get him. There are plenty of QB's in this draft we can risk on and I mean it can't get any worse than what we have now.

JCBRAVE : I respect your opinion greatly here but at the same time with all due respect I think you are being overly optimistic on Jake. He played a few good games but so does everyone, even Jarmarcus Russell won 4 games lol. I will root for any Titan in two toned blue but I do not want to be sitting here having this same conversation about a qb before next years draft!!

I think Whis and Webster are wisely approaching the Locker situation. They didn't exercise his option but are giving him the starting job. Clear to all that this is his last chance.

Let's be real though. Locker has been injured his ENTIRE football career. And it's been a ligament in nearly every part of his body. He is recovering from a LisFranc- that takes time. And don't believe the "spin doctors" about how "awesome" his foot is and how Phillips has the "same" injury. A Lisfranc surgery is a VERY significant and slow healing procedure. This is the weight bearing, direction changing, acceleration initiation portion of his musculo-skeletal system. Don't expect to see much, if any, rollout, designed run action out of Locker. Which leaves us to rely on his arm. His thus far, very inaccurate arm.

We all HOPE for the best. But the reality is that Jake Locker's NFL tenure has played out just as his college career did. He continues to be injury prone and inaccurate. He has been everything the critics were concerned about. He has been a hard worker and great character guy but just can't deliver the way a franchise QB is expected to produce.

Whis brought in somebody who knows HIS system for a reason. He expects there is a high probability there will be a need for the QB backup to play EARLY in the season.

I know all about lisfrancs. But again, show me a better option and Im all for trying new QBs. But as I pointed out, there is no better that we have a shot at than Jake Locker.

I have said this before. If Jake stays healthy, plays good ball, you still dont go long term with a deal. You franchise him, expensive I know, but make him prove it another year. If he does, you give him a long term deal. This way, he has to stay healthy for two seasons. Again, its more expensive than some might like. Just saying that if Jake stays healthy and plays well, it doesnt have to be a long term commitment right away. You can make him prove again, at a price, for 1 more season. If he misses significant time again next season, its a non issue.

Well you guys got what you wanted. You liked the production from VY but didn't like his attitude and wanted him out because of it. Then we get a guy with a great attitude and everyone is pumped and excited but that don't mean crap if you can't produce like Locker. But it's ok lets keep him around his attitude and leadership is obviously working for us.

I knew it would be a good morning when I see resident idiot TWW2 has the last comment on 4 threads...

Tell me about how great VY is. Which team does he play for again?
