I would like to see him get an opportunity, but highly doubt he leaves here today with a contract.

I agree. I don't think we hire anybody until Seattle and the 49ers have been bumped from the playoffs.

I suspect MR is going to shoot sunshine up Zimmer's azz and tell him he is our man but we can't hire him until we've completed the interviews or the fan base will go ape chit etc. Feed him a bunch of stuff simply to tie him until they can get a real close look at Greg Roman, Bevell and Quinn.

Well he took a defense ranked near the bottom of the league and has taken them up to #3 in about five years. His players love him and have followed him from other teams to Cincinnati. The fans in Cincinnati are desperate to keep him. There is a lot more "there" to Mike Zimmer than just cursing.

I see your point but he's been passed over after SEVERAL HC interviews. I think there is something GM's don't like after they interview him.

The only reason that would remotely bother me is if they felt he didn't know what he was doing and given his resume I sincerely doubt that is the case. What do you think are possible reasons he's been passed over (other than his brashness) so many times?

I said this earlier, but the reason he gets passed over is that he is blunt and honest. A lot of GMs and owners want a Yes man or someone to blow sunshine up the old booty. Zimmer is not that. He is in your face, and what you see is what you get. He took a lot of flak for what he said about Bobby Petrino a few years back. Petrino quit the Falcons during the season and left to take a college job. Zimmer and the rest of Petrino's staff were let go. Zimmer said this to the media:

UPDATE: More from Zimmer, via Reedy: “[Petrino] is a coward. Put that in quotes. He ruined a bunch of people’s
lives, a bunch of people’s families, kids, because he didn’t have enough
nuts to stay there and finish the job. That’s the truth.”

I don't know. But something is there. There is more to being a HC than simply being blunt and honest. My experience is that people who are perceived by many as blunt/honest don't have the capacity to view problems from a different angle. In other words, they often think that only their way of thinking is correct. (My-way or High-way). That tends to produce results in a limited responsibility, but when situations (problems) arise that complex/multi-factorial, those persons don't have the capacity to "re-think" their approach. That often compounds that particular problem.

Like I said, I like a fiery guy that holds players accountable. But there is a lot of problem solving/management for which a HC is responsible. It is more than simply being a "yes-man" as some would suggest. And there is something that comes off in an interview that many other GM's have passed over Zimmer for some reason.

We'll see. I think the Titans would benefit greatly from Zimmer. If he is not hired this time, I think he takes over for Marvin Lewis in Cincy someday.

Question.. How would Locker fit into someone like Greg Roman's offense? He loves that multi-dimensional quarterback but I'm not exactly familiar with the X's and O's of his offense and how Locker would fit into it. Just wondering in case he was the guy, would he target a QB in Round 1 or does Locker fit well enough to give him a chance and go developmental QB in rounds 4-7?
