Lets make a splash in free agency

I totally agree, but I think Griffin did his job in this defense. Last year I was calling for Griffin to be cut, but now I am realizing just how terrible our Safety position was opposite Griff last year. We need more players to do their job, but no team succeeds without a QB.

 

I already had a thread on Hardy over a week ago. Charlotte will not let him, Luke, or Cam go.

 

Make those cuts... go after a GREAT DLine player.

If we can't get a great one... screw it and worry about it next year and deal with the draft, only. No reason to waste money on guys we'd have to "fall back on".

I honestly feel we can easily replace those players in the draft - if necessary.

 

Cj is a keeper in my mind. No matter how much you guys dont like him, he's a difference maker out there, he still really is. He might not have the cut back ability he had back in time, but his speed is still elite. Now that the middle of the line will only get better..i think he has to stay. Whenever they open up holes for him, he really takes adavantage and we see an impact runner out there. It would be nice to lower his salary 2 mill but who knows what will happen. He is very expensive, that's for sure.

Wimbley needs to be cut along with stewart. Roos could take a little paycut. Why would you cut Griffin? He has been a player to keep this year and he is hitting guys pretty often out there. If we re-sign pollard then wilson is probably gone as his salary is a bit too high for a backup and they didn't use him that much (i like his game though). Nate could be cut with the salary he has right now. I know he is a weapon but he was awol for a couple of games, plus Hunter's second season will get a lot more playing time and Wright has established himself as the number 1 option.

Craig Stevens is HIGHLY overpaid and Sammie Hill is not worth the contract he got. So there are a lot of things to be done and a lot of cap space can be gained easily.

I think just cutting Nate, Stewart and wimbley already gives us 13.5 clean million in cap space.

So there are ways to get verner and pollard back and acquire a big time free agent.

jake scott also, he was awful at the end...

 

im convinced Stewy and KW are gone... We loose ZERO cutting Stewy so that will happen for sure. Thats about +6-7M there i think.... KW is another 5-6M as well. I'm pretty sure CJ will be cut as well, which gets us I think 9M plus the 8M we already have.

Taking conservative numbers, 6+5+9+8=28M. So we definitely can make some moves. We GOT VERY GOOD players last year and that helped us stay in games all year long, so the splash last year was very good IMO.

We'll see what happens this year, I have faith in Rus though.
