I'd disagree that Cleveland had no talent. Weeden lost his job, so that's there biggest problem on offense (just like we played with a backup QB most of the year). But they have Mack and Thomas on the OL, one of the best WR in Gordon, a good TE in Cameron and a solid RB in McGahee. On D they have a lot of solid players with 2 stars in Haden and Ward in the secondary.

I agree if we go with a new HC, we need someone (HC or OC) who can develop a young QB. And if we are cleaning house, I want dominant people on both sides of the ball. The most obvious move would be Whisenhunt as HC/offensive playcaller and Gregg Williams as DC.

He'll be back. His salary is guaranteed, is pretty cheap for a QB(even a backup QB) and we invested the #8 pick in him. I don't know why you'd get rid of, even if you bring in another rookie.

I agree with your assessment of DM. People here love to hate on him b/c his sack numbers are not up there. Like i've always said DM is a very good DE, we could do MUCH WORSE.

He really understands gap control and is solid both in run and pass. He was never dubbed as an elite speed rusher coming out of UNI either, so I'm not sure what people are expecting there.

We definitely need an EFFECTIVE speed rusher, what KW and Ayers never are/were. We also need a team (mind you this includes an offense that can stay on the field a bit and score some points) to ALLOW ends to pin their ears.

Another thing about gap control people don't understand (RP is good at it too) is that it allows DTs to get pressure. QBs can't move left and right with ease, and are forced to step up into the pocket. When that happens its more on the blitzing LB or DT to make a play.

On the plays DM goes wide to get pressure he does a very good job at it - he just doesn't do it that often. But I imagine scheme wise they are telling him to keep in his lane. Again, back to the blitzing LB, so many times he just runs into an OL instead of waiting that extra second to burst through the line, rather than into a waiting OL....

You are missing my point. McCoy WAS a good OC and he would have made sense to 'take a chance on.' Chip Kelly was proven to be a very good college coach with an innovative system that has worked every where he's gone. I WOULD take a chance on them because they have proven to be successful. McCoy was successful as a coordinator with both a great and terrible QB in the NFL. Kelly is a proven college coach who isn't just a HC but an offensive innovator.

See, I WOULD take a chance on a guy like that. They are proven commodities. Does that guarantee success? No. Chudzinski had success as a TE coach and as Cam's first OC and he's not been successful. Did he make their QB better like expected because of Cam's success? No.

But I'll giv e you another example of what I wouldn't want. Look at some other guys like Scwartz. I think he was a much better HC then he was DC but he wasn't even a good DC and got a job as a HC. He had a franchise QB and a Hall of Fame WR and a lot of input on personel. What did that get them? A lot of wasted time. I don't want one of those guys.

And to be fair, this team is light years ahead of where we were last year. TS will decide to clean house or not. Point is, I don't want change for the sake of change. I want us to get better. Bringing in a Scwartz or someone like him (who his players quit on) would be worse!

Yup, I watched the first half and then left for a date, watched the rest before the night game. First time in 2 years I missed a game, had we actually been playing for something there's no way I'd of left lol.
