Titans safety Bernard Pollard said the NFL told him it made a mistake: his hit on Broncos receiver Eric Decker shouldn’t have been flagged.

“They said the ref made a bad call,’’ Pollard said. “It doesn’t help us on Wednesday.”

Pollard was flagged for a 15-yard penalty on what looked to be a shoulder-to-shoulder hit on Decker in Sunday’s 51-28 loss to the Broncos. Denver ended up scoring a touchdown to cap off the drive.

According to Pollard, the NFL head officiating told him the hit was clean. Pollard, who has been fined $67,500 by the league this season, said players don’t get away with mistakes so easily. In Denver, Pollard was called for hitting a defenseless receiver.

“If we make a bad decision in a competitive game when we don’t mean to, we are fined 50-plus thousand dollars and some guys $200,000 plus a game check plus suspensions,’’ Pollard said. “But refs are making bad calls and nothing is happening.

“Those are “coolers” and it is cooling the game down. And it is messing our group up because we don’t know how to play now, as far as how we hit the receivers. It is tough as a defensive back.”

It’s also been tough for Pollard as a Titan, he admits.

A year ago, he was part of a Super Bowl team with the Ravens. This year, he’s on a 5-8 football team that’s now on the verge of being eliminated from playoff contention in the AFC.

Pollard vows he’ll keep fighting, and hopes fans won’t give up.

“We have not laid down, and we are not giving up. We are going to go out there and put on a show. … Come out and support, and just come have fun,’’ he said, before smiling. “And if all fails, I’ll take a fine and hit somebody for you.”

This sums up our season right now "just come have some fun". Don't watch us because we're good, watch us because it's fun.

There has to be a way the refs can review a penalty to determine if it's the right call. Especially a call that is going to cost someone money or even influence the outcome of a game. Will drag the game a little longer, but their ultimate goal is to make the "correct call" on the field. Something has to happen because some games are being or will be decided on these freakn calls.

Absurdity. Single out Pollard because of his luggage. Pure player discrimination. I want to see news that this ref was fined and suspended.
