Exactly. I think the problem here is the naysayers are looking at it as if we'd be bringing him in to be our franchise QB for the next 10 years. But I really don't think that would be the case. We're not going to sign him and then go "Well, I guess we're set at QB now". IMO he would be the starter for 2 or 3 years, at best. We would still draft and groom a guy for the future.

As a long-term franchise QB? No I don't want Cutler.

As a stopgap/short-term starter? Absolutely I want him and I can't think of many other (realistic) options I'd rather have for that role.

 

yea but Murray, who I want, isn't going to need to sit a few years. Maybe one, and thats just to be on the safe side.

Well then the sooner he's ready the better. But given our recent luck with drafting QBs I'd feel a lot better having a solid vet on the roster.

 

This is wild. I agree to all those changes but additionally I think we need to draft a QB in the draft. No questions asked, period. I just pray we get a solid coach.

If you give Jay Cutler an actual OL to stand behind he is a borderline top ten NFL QB. Chicago never had a lot of talent in front of him and he still help keep them a float.

 

So if all this happens we go QB round 1.

If you bring in Cutler you have to go with a RT and DE in rounds 1 and 2. That alone takes us from a middling franchise to a playoff contender. IMO you draft a guy who falls into the 3rd or 4th and role with him for a year or two.

 

Go get Mike Shanahan. He has experience with Cutler, and he liked Locker back in 2010.

 

I don't want Murray.

Overrated.

However, the QB I like the most would be Petty at Baylor. But he isn't coming out. That would have been my ideal 2nd-4th round pick.
